In this episode, we have an in depth conversation on Sexual and Gender-based Violence in Zambia. SGBV is an epidemic that affects many people around the world in a variety of ways. The Village strives to amplify the voices in the conversation by raising awareness and beginning to understand SGBV as our society takes measure towards protecting the safety of our peoples.

The Village discuss various perspective on SGBV such as legal definitions and procedures, possible pathways to breaking the cyclical nature of SGBV, and so on. On this episode we a joined by Mwangala Monde: the co-founder and Administrative Director of the Sistah Sistah Foundation.

Linked below is a petition outlining a variety of things that the new Zambian government can do to ensure that safety does not exclude women. Society cannot be said to be a safe place when the most vulnerable live in fear everyday of sexual assault in the streets, at work and at home.
