We all heard at least once in our life, older person uttering the words " I need to take it easy, I am not as fit as I used to be! ". Well, what a lot of the older individuals do not know, is that inactivity causes their muscle to fade. Less muscle, less protection of their bones. That can be fatal! Andrea explains why the intake of protein becomes so vital in the older stages in life. Sarcopenia is the scientific term and was for long time simply accepted as a cost byproduct of ageing. Thanks to researchers like her, we know more today. Additionally, speaking about ageing, Andrea explains what the cellular senescence is and how it is connected to cancer. I also get schooled on the topic of wisdom, which she comprehends in a different way. As a bonus we get to hear about her experience dealing with patients in Australia, compared to patients in Europe, thus showing us some cultural differences.
