In the latest serving of The Voicenote, Padraig is joined by fellow podcaster, acclaimed dancer, fashion icon, Cork sister, writer and star of Cliché, PJ Kirby who conveniently is one of Padraig’s closest friends.
In the episode the pair catch up after a long ten days without a rendezvous, they discuss the state of the gafs for rent in Dublin, Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance and Valentine’s Day before getting down to this weeks theme: Fad Diets.
Neither of the two are shy to admit that they struggle with dysmorphic thinking in relation to their image and they open up about how they continue to work on accepting their bodies while screaming at some of the chaotic fad diets they tried over the years.
Padraig recalls how he worked the room at Weight Watchers and was fleeced by a pyramid scheme in a bid to lose a few pounds. Pj shares traumatic stories of casting calls and auditions in London as a 6ft+ pastey Irish boy with a skinhead and love handles.
TW: This episode raises issues around body dysmorphia and disordered thinking around food. If you find that you might need help or support in dealing with any of the topics discussed, please reach out to a friend, family member or professional for help and remember to be kind to yourself x
