Amanda M. Fairbanks is a journalist and the author of The Lost Boys of Montauk. The book tells the true story of four commercial fishermen who were lost at sea in 1984 and the lives of the friends and loved ones that they left behind.

Anna Maria Bounds is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Queens College. She holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Public Policy from The New School. Her new book, Bracing for the Apocalypse: An Ethnographic Study of New York’s ‘Prepper’ Subculture, is a rich ethnography that explores the rise of urban preppers in her city. Her research interests focus on city subcultures, city tourism, and public spaces.

Chris Hamilton is a life-long fisherman and photographer from Greenport, New York. Chris grew up in a fishing family on Long Island's North Fork. He began taking photos on his father's fishing vessel and has developed an incredible skill for ocean photography.

I first came across his work from a series of photos that Chris took of his father at sea.

Suse Lowenstein was born in Germany, but made her way to New York after also living for a year in Colombia. Her work has spanned multiple mediums including painting, textiles, and sculpture. On December 21, 1988 while coming home for the holidays her oldest son Alexander was murdered along with 258 others aboard Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
