This week, we invited the well-spoken and ambitious @taylorskang, a fellow podcaster, to join our conversation about breakups, the ways we show and like to be shown love, and healing from past relationship trauma. Some of us gals are nearing our silver anniversary of a marriage, some are newlyweds, some have just gotten into a new relationship, while some have been dating and perhaps are contemplating marriage...in any case, we realize that no matter what, no matter how traumatizing or cringey 🤢 the experience, we can always take away a lesson and look to the future.
The team discussed the different areas of organization in our lives we could work on and need help with--finances, relationships, physical spaces, and even digital spaces. We invited @connie_kay, a PhD student in Architecture, who has the gift of organization in scheduling, planning and of course, design. Connie and the team suggested helpful tips to each other that we've found useful in our own lives!
The team gets REALLY vulnerable and speaks about everything we need to let go of in order to start 2021 off fresh. Some things we’ve held on for a day, others we’ve held on to for decades. Maybe it was someone who was rude to us, someone who spread rumors about you, or just overanalyzing things in general—we all need to let go of things that hold us back from being a better version of ourselves.
The Wāhine Collective team got together for a refreshing and delicious drink concocted by the inspiring Felicia of @spiritsofalohabartending while talking about each of our intimate spiritual journeys. Some of us are solid in faith, some of us are still searching, some of us had bumpy rides, but we ultimately support and wholeheartedly accept each other, whatever we may believe or whatever voyage we may be on. We only hope our personal stories will help to empower and inspire you all to be accepting of all walks, colors and shapes of life.
Our societal culture pressures us to work hard, to go go go, to plan, to host, to say yes. And it’s so hard to stop moving. It feels weird, even shameful, to be on vacation for too long, to call in sick, to sleep in, or to do nothing all day. But little breaks from the hardcore pace of the world is vital to our mental and physical health. Our team got together with our wonderful guest, Felicia of @spiritsofalohabartnending, and with refreshing cocktails in hand, we discussed what rest means to us and how we find ways to fit it into our busy lives (even if it means bringing a book to read in the bar!).
Michelle Karr-Ueoka, owner and pastry chef of the award-winning MW restaurant joined The Wāhine Collective for a chat to speak vulnerably about her mistakes and failures, but also how those experiences helped her achieve her grand dreams.
