Thais Gibson is the co-founder of the Personal Development School as well as the author of the book,  "Attachment Theory Guide". Throughout her career, she has worked with thousands of clients and helped them to positively transform their lives, relationships, and goals. Thais is certified in over 13 different areas of therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy, neurolinguistic programming and transpersonal psychology. Thais also has a successful YouTube channel focused on attachment styles and relationship psychology with over 3.5MM views. 

The most influential factor in relationships is, according to Thais Gibson, our attachment style. Where do we learn our attachment style? Childhood trauma. Ever wondered if your period is normal? What happens when you come off the pill? Maria is answering your questions on this episode. 

Maria Rafferty from The Hormone Health Coach has spent over ten years working with women - from teenage period pain to menopause and everything in between. Maria has worked with groups of women in postpartum classes, menstrual health workshops, and fertility seminars. 

On this episode, Maria chats to me about what a healthy period looks like (pain, clotting, acne, etc), endocrine disruptors, what happens to your body when you take the pill and when you come off it. Jess McCaul - a blogger from Longford in Ireland - suffered from anorexia for eleven years. After doctors diagnosed her with osteoporosis and osteopenia at just twenty-six years of age, Jess decided that enough was enough. It was from this point that she began her fight against the eating disorder, determined to not let it win.

Jess speaks about her low points throughout the years of the eating disorder and how it took away so much of her young life; not being able to go for a coffee with friends, not going to events or parties and spending a lot of time at home trying to stay warm and being consumed by her mental illness. After working with her GP for some time, Jess explains how she felt like she had no choice but to fight for the funding for the inpatient treatment that she knew she needed in Saint John of God's Psychiatric Hospital in Dublin. She reveals that she didn’t have the strength to recover with outpatient treatment alone and if she didn’t get the care she needed, illness could’ve potentially killed her.

After two years, Jess was finally granted the funding she needed for her 14 weeks at the psychiatric hospital that she says saved her life. It’s been a full 12 months since she was discharged and despite the 2020 pandemic, she is still feeling positive about her ever-changing road to recovery and is on a mission to spread awareness around mental illnesses.

Social media star Sinead Hegarty began sharing her world travels and fashion and beauty finds on Instagram which quickly started to garner attention, followers, and fans. After a sudden breakup with her boyfriend at the time, Sinead turned to learning about human behavior as a way to understand relationships, emotional attachments, and all the changes she was experiencing as a young woman navigating romance and partnerships.

We here so many buzzwords when it comes to fitness. There's fitness fads, trends, meal plans, strength training or cardio training, low carbs, or calorie deficit. Health goals can get overwhelming very quickly. In this episode, I spoke with a lovely friend of mine, Laura Dorgan, who also happens to be a personal trainer here in New York.

Laura trains men and women all over the world to reach their health goals whatever that may be; building strength, mobility, gaining or losing weight. Laura will be the first person to tell you she has an app (!) with hundreds of exercises, meal plans, recipes, and more. She has thousands of Instagram followers too, following her journey in NYC and shares an insight into what exercise and food look like for a personal trainer, along with her struggles with endometriosis.

Laura joined me on the podcast to talk through some fitness and nutrition myths and the biggest and best muscle we need to exercise; the brain. For this episode, I got to sit down with a lovely friend and fellow blogger, Lorna Ruane. Lorna works is the Associate Director of Research and Analytics for some of the world's biggest companies that we use and rely on every day. She comes from a family of 10 in Mayo, and started out her career working with numbers helping her dad out at the horse racing.

Lorna studied a Ph.D. in Marketing (fashion and brand relationship) in NUI Galway. During her final year, Lorna launched her blog and social media, LC’s Closet, where she documented her outfit and interest in fashion for the past seven years.

She decided to leave her brothers and sisters and set up a new life here in New York, where she has continued to work for the biggest brands in the world. She also still shares her outfits on Instagram, alongside her obsession and dedicated interest in the Royal Family.

Lorna and I spoke about the realities of a Ph.D., leaving Ireland, an insight into the US workplace and the pros and cons of living in New York.
