Sabrina Marzaro -  author of 'Swiping for Prince Charming' -  joined me to talk about navigating dating apps and the 21st-century dating scene. Sabrina released her first book in 2019. This beautifully illustrated tale tells the story about a man her in life which leads to very personal discovery and lesson.

Sabrina is also a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and owns her own branding and copywriting company, Graphite and Ink, where she has worked with brands such as L'Oréal, Givenchy and Guerlain.

Sabrina and I chatted about experimenting with dating and shared learnings of self-love and the importance of personal happiness. We also answered some of your questions you sent in on my Instagram too!

On this one, I got to spend a few hours with Dr. Vanessa Creaven co-founder of Spotlight Oral Care which is an Irish oral care company that made its name after their Spotlight Teeth Whitening Kit took the Irish cosmetic market by storm.

Vanessa and her sister, Lisa Creaven, are both dentists from Galway in Ireland. They’ve truly found an untouched area of the global oral care market and have developed a collection of clean, non-toxic, environmentally friendly products that make us look good on the outside, but are also good to our teeth and gums too.

in this podcast, Vanessa takes us back in time to the launch of their well-known teeth whitening kit, which became a social media sensation. This product started out as something they wanted to offer their patients, but the demand began to snowball, more and more retailers have requested their product.

Fast forward three years later and Vanessa - still only twenty-eight years old - announced that she and Lisa just signed with 1,000 Ulta stores across America. A coveted move for any cosmetic company and a true pinch-me moment for a brand that has come from Galway. 

This is not only an intriguing success story from two very smart sisters, but Vanessa also shines a light on some truth about popular oral care products on the market and the harsh reality of what many consumers are putting in their mouths. It was a real eye-opener for me!

The story of Spotlight Oral Care is the epitome of what this podcast means to me; true success that stemmed from pure resilience and passion.

It’s finally here, Season 2 of The Wall Podcast! Thank you for all who have listened through Season 1. I’m excited to say that I am just getting started!

To kick off the new season, and the very first episode of 2020, I have an interview with Irish influencer, Shauna Doyle.

Shauna is a fast-growing blogger from Cork and is best known for her chats on Instagram stories and her blusher. Yep, Shauna’s rule is that you can never have too much blush on your cheeks!

Shauna started out in retail, moving up the ranks fast in some of the bigger outlets until she landed a job as a makeup artist in MAC makeup. School was never for her so Shauna thought she was destined for a career in makeup and retail. Until her follower numbers started to grow rapidly.

Despite her current following being at a ‘micro-level’ by industry standards, Shauna has been able to sustain a living out of full-time blogging from her hometown of Cork while studying a master's in PR too.

Shauna, who by the way is only twenty-two years old, sat down with me in NYC to chat about her journey so far. She was traveling to promote the latest fashion app called Alana, so you could say things are escalating pretty fast for her.

Shauna is a great example of how, if you’re brave enough to ask and you’re willing to put in the work, that sometimes the answer is simply 'yes'.

Divya Gugnani is the co-founder of the first travel-inspired beauty brand of its kind. The collection of skin and color cosmetics can be found on the shelves of Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta and more.

But before Divya founded Wander Beauty, she was a student of both Harvard and Cornell before then continuing on to a career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs.

Gillian O’Shea Brown, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist, Advanced EMDR Practitioner and Complex Trauma Specialist with a passion for working with individuals and couples to foster resilience, courage, and strength. Gillian sat down with me to share her understanding of trauma itself - the big 'T’ trauma and small 't' relational trauma. Specifically, she explains how and why these experiences have an effect on our wellbeing and overall quality of life. She explains how our mind is wired to cope once immersed in various distressing experiences and how, with the help of the right therapy, we have the ability to treat and manage ourselves.

Tara Marzuki is from County Cork in Ireland but has resided in NYC for the past four years. Tara is known for vlogging her life in Manhattan (and her impeccable video editing skills) but also has a degree in textile, art, and fashion and has worked for years in fashion design, with a notable stint designing costumes for Game of Thrones.

Tara has worked with some of the worlds biggest brands including Nars, Puma, and Burberry and has impressively accumulated almost 200,000 social media followers across Instagram and YouTube.

Neil sat down with me to chat about how he spent many days off working for free and built his network from nothing, noting how important being genuinely interested in makeup artistry and holding yourself professionally is. Neil speaks to the idea that social media has had a somewhat negative impact on the world of celebrity makeup artists and how he came to learn that doing a good job with a good heart will carry you further than any online presence every will.

Sligo man, Paddy Greene, moved to New York at the prime age of 25 on a J1 Visa. After getting fired from his bar job on the week before Christmas, he quickly figured out there was an opportunity to do night club promoting in a way that nobody else was. Fast forward a few years and Paddy has become a self-made nightclub entrepreneur, working for the largest nightclubs in New York City and beyond. He tells me the stories of nights spent with Leonardo DiCaprio, Conor McGregor, and various royal families. Paddy speaks about the discipline of managing a professional business in the club scene in one of the busiest cities in the world. There is also some sound advice in there for recent J1 graduates too. Nightclub promoting may not be for you, but there is an undeniable ‘Irish luck and charm’ about this story that’s hard to ignore. Caroline Wilkins is yet another Irish lady in New York City who has worked extremely hard to get to where she is. Caroline, originally from Co.Cork in Ireland, is the founder and creator of the jewellery brand, Sticky Back Bailey. Caroline founded the brand after an extremely turbulent time in her life. After being diagnosed with an unexpected illness she used her spare time to slow down and do something for the soul. After spiking some interest with the New York locals and across Instagram, Caroline launched her website in 2018 selling unique pieces of jewelry to women and men across the world. Tune in to hear how Caroline made the move to Manhattan and has continued to come alive in herself despite the bumpy road she’s left behind.
