The Watering Hole

Gold Coast Suns Captain and self proclaimed "Golf Nuffie" Touk Miller joins us this week for a chat. This episode is jam packed full of laughs and great stories from Touk's career in the AFL and his love of Golf. He had us in stitches with his Green Jacket story and how pumped up he gets for Q Clash. Currently a single digit handicapper, Touk absolutely loves golf and is on the course at every opportunity he gets. We had such a great time chatting with Touk and we can't wait to welcome him back on the podcast and look forward to watching Touk and the Suns in 2024.

This week we had the absolute pleasure of chatting to legendary Golf Coach, Kevin Kirk. Kevin is the 2019 PGA Coach of the year and the current coach of Patrick Reed of LIV Golf’s 4Aces. Kevin has spent decades in pro golf and he has the stories to go along with it. He takes us through growing up, becoming a pro golfer and then transitioning into coaching. Kevin had us enthralled with stories from The Presidents Cup, The Olympics and his philosophy on golf and life as he explains the meaning of Kaizen and the pursuit of mastery.

We chat all things LIV Golf and Kevin shares a behind the scenes insight into the players, the teams and the overall LIV Golf experience. We get a glimpse into the prep and training of elite golfers and the mindset and life of high performance athletes. Kevin also shares his thoughts on the current mass of information on social media and some advice for us amateurs.

We were honestly blown away by Kevin and his stories. We can’t thank Kevin enough for being so generous with his time. We covered so much in this chat, but felt like we could’ve chatted to Kevin for hours. We will definitely have Kevin on the show again in the future.

This is an absolute treat for the golf obsessed!

Enjoy

This week, we were lucky enough to sit down and chat to none other than Waverley Council Head Lifeguard, Bondi Rescue TV personality & Podcaster Bruce "Hoppo" Hopkins.

Hoppo takes us through his 30 plus years as a professional lifeguard patrolling Australia's most famous beach and his early years growing up in Bronte. Hoppo shares a lot of great stories from his early years working in radio on the NRL to the Sydney Olympics and life on and off the screen at Bondi. We take a deep dive into the good times, but also the struggles that lifeguards deal with and how the culture has changed over the past 30 years.

A quick note here: This episode contains discussions of PTSD, and the depiction of traumatic events. Listener discretion is advised.

A golf lover, Hoppo takes us through his golf journey and some of the amazing courses he's played and people he has played with, including a round in the Hunter Valley with Brian Lara; amazing story. In his own words, "I'll go anywhere for a game of golf"

As well as keeping the beaches safe and starring on a global TV series running over 17 seasons, Hoppo hosts his podcast "Life's A Beach" where he and his guests talk life stories and every day challenges and struggles. An amazing podcast that you absolutely need to subscribe too!

We had been looking forward to this episode for a while and we can't thank Hoppo enough for being so generous with his time. We had a ball and can't wait to catch up with Hoppo again soon.

Enjoy they episode
