The faith of Abraham must once again be tested. God commanded Abraham to offer his son Issaac as a burnt offering. This command came without explanation. It is a severe test beyond description. As our faith grows, so to must the severity of the test.

Now in this we have a beautiful picture of the gospel. We see Abraham the father offering up his only son as a sacrifice. The details of this account are many. They all clearly point us to Calvary. 

There is also personal application. Abraham was being commanded to sacrifice that which he loved the most. The challenge we face; are we willing to put to death the things we love the most in order to truly know and live for God?

Daniel has another amazing vision. Again, he is not able to understand this vision. An angel must interpret the vision for him.

The vision gives a stunningly accurate account of the Medes and Persians, the Greeks, Alexander the Great, Antiochus IV and the Antichrist who is yet to rise up in the near future. So accurate are the details, the critics attack it vigorously. However, their attacks cannot stand up to the truth.

As we continue to look at these incredible prophesies found in Daniel, we must remind ourselves that this not an exercise to satisfy our curiosity or increase our knowledge. Bible prophesy is not meant to fill our minds, it is meant to change our hearts. The more we know and understand biblical prophecy, the more it should change how we live for Jesus.

Abraham obediently sends Hagar and Ishmael away. This was a difficult command for Abraham to obey, yet he arose early and obeyed. The difficulty of the command must never affect our prompt obedience to that command. To obey is always better than sacrifice.

It did not take long for the resources of Hagar and Ishmael to run out. Their situation was dire. In this moment of crisis, Hagar forgot the promise of God from years earlier. God spoke to Hagar and opened her eyes. Not to what she thought she needed, but to the provision she already had. 

How often in life's difficulties we lose sight of the provision we already have in Christ Jesus. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

We now conclude our study in this amazing and critical chapter which presents to us and amazing overview of biblical prophecy. To understand this chapter will give us a clear biblical view of the days we are living in.

There is far too much to unpack in an introductory summary. However, we can conclude with the simple fact that God is in control. God is soverein. God knows the beginning from the end. God rules in the affairs of man.

The days before us will absolutely be more difficult than we can imagine. But let us be encouraged. Jesus is coming again. He will set up His kingdom. And when Jesus returns, He will give His kingdom to the saints of the Most High. Yes, the days before us are difficult but the glory that lies beyond will be joy indescribable.

Isaac is born to Abraham and Sarah. Jus as God had spoken, Isaac was miraculously born to this couple that was decades beyond the age of having children. God made the impossible possible. God said that they would have child, and they did. There is nothing more certain than the word of God. 

With the birth of Isaac came the problem of Ishmael. Ishmael and Isaac could not dwell in the same home, just as the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit are not able to dwell together. Ishmael had to be cast out completely. So to, we must cast out the works of the flesh completely.

We will never experience the full blessing of walking in the Spirit until we cast out the works of the flesh.

We now enter the prophetic chapters of Daniel. The importance of these chapters cannot be overstated. These chapters are key when it comes to having a correct biblical understanding of end time events and the days we are living in. Understanding these important chapters will develop in us a 30,000-foot view of biblical prophecy.

As we embark on these chapters with their amazing pin-point accuracy, it should have a great impact on how we live for Jesus. It should motivate us to abide in Christ and live in total obedience to His word.

We are living in amazing times. We are on the precipice of the return of Christ. Let's live every day for Jesus.

We now come back to Abraham. He and Sarah are on the verge of having a wonderful child of promise from God. They have met with God and been given a great promise. Yet in the midst of all this, Abraham once again fails miserably. 

While Abraham was noted for his faith, the faithfulness of God towards Abraham is amazing. God has begun a great work in Abraham and God will bring that great work to completion.

There is much we are able to learn from the life of Abraham. May we all make application of the great lesson being set before us in the life of Abraham.

Here we look at the familiar account of Daniel and the lion's den. While it is familiar, it is filled with much that we can still learn from.

Daniel was a righteous man. He was a man in whom was an excellent spirit. Accusation concerning his integrity was impossible. Instead, his enemies created a law that would prevent him from worshipping the LORD. In this, they knew that Daniel would obey God rather than man. As a result, they would be able to murder him in the lion's den.

Daniel was a godly man. A man who had been faithful for decades. How is that Daniel could faithfully obey God and end up in the lion's den? Paul tells in in II Timothy 3:12 Yes, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 

Going through trials and tribulations will often be the result of righteous living. God allows trials and tribulations into our lives so that we may be formed into a vessel of honor through which He will display His glory.

Are we prepared to obey God rather than man? Are we prepared to be a Daniel?

In this study we have our last look at Lot in the Old Testament. Lot is a sad case. Here was a man who had every reason to live a godly life, yet his love for the world prevented him from loving God. His backsliding, compromising ways robbed him of any testimony he may have had for the LORD. Lot's life quite frankly was a wasted life that produced ill fruit.

We have a choice before us. Will we go the way of Lot or will we live in sold out obedience to Jesus Christ and His word. Will we obey regardless of cost or consequences to the glory of our heavenly Father.

We cannot follow Jesus with a divided heart. Will you make your life count for the cause of Christ? Hear God's word, know God's word and obey God's word always. Keep your hand to the plough and never look back.

Due to unexpected circumstances, I was not able to record the Genesis or Daniel study this week. So instead, we are presenting a message that I have given on several other occasions that I think is appropriate for the days we are living in. I believe that God in His sovereignty has allowed for this message to go forth.

The purpose of this message is to challenge us to live fully for Jesus in these last of the last days. Hopefully it will bring reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness as Paul tells us in II Timothy 3:16,17.

Jesus is coming soon. Let us all live for Jesus to the fullest. May we be all that God has called us to be for the days we are living in.
