The mistakes we make can be hard to come back from. 

It is understandable that some collapse under the weight of their errors, permitting themselves to be defined by their own darkness or sinfulness. 

We all have the capacity for darkness. We all do things which are disappointing and saddening. 

The appropriate response to our own foolishness is courage. We must be courageous enough to change as a product of our experiences, to see our own limitations, to strive to right the wrongs, to learn from our errors and create a brighter future. 

That is hard. But it is necessary.

On Sunday 05/07/2020, The Way of Well-Being hosted the third Connection session. The session included Qur'anic recitation, collective remembrance, and a sharing session. The reflection provided here also featured in the session. The topic of the reflection is Managing Anxiety. 

To be anxious about the future is a feature of the human condition. The reflection mentions advice as regards how we can take the bite out of anxiety by transforming the manner in which we perceive the universe. We pray it is beneficial.

Rather than being morbid or taboo, death is a key part of life. 

Death has emerged into the public spotlight over the past few months, reminding us of the fragility of our existence and how precious each moment is. 

This reflection, which was part of the Shawwal Flourish group, explores how we can utilise the remembrance of death as a tool for inspiration to propel us forwards towards living lives of gratitude, meaning, and consequence. 

We hosted our first online gathering of remembrance and sharing on Sunday 7th June 2020 via zoom. The session, titled 'Connection', contained Qur'anic recitation, the reflection accessed here, collective remembrance of God, and a discussion. The topic of the reflection was Forgiveness, and explores ways in which we can come to forgive ourselves and others.

What with the extraordinary circumstances facing Muslims around the world, this Ramadan promises to be anything but normal. 

Sheikh Ebrahim offered some timely advice as regards how we can negotiate this blessed month, touching on the importance of inner-work and trusting in the plan of the Almighty. 

The sheikh also touches on the role of community on the way, and how ultimately our path boils down to the relationship between the individual and God. 

Also explored is the role of the teacher on the way, and how empowering people to make autonomous decisions is the ultimate objective of guidance.
