2 John is a short letter to a church family. In the letter, John encourages the church to hold to their family values. As we walk through the text today, we will be challenged to commit ourselves to three indispensable values of our church family.

John wrote this letter to the church so they could know with certainty that their salvation was genuine, but there is more. Assurance is not given to us so we can rest, it is given to us so we can run our race. The knowledge and confidence we have in and through Christ compels us to three specific actions as we run.
