FINALLY: ZANDER and DANNO have both made a lot of comics in their lives. They have also read a lot of comics, and a lot of those comics were pretty terrible and helped shape the work DANNO and ZANDER would eventually create.  So both ZANDER and DANNO pick five comics issues/series/or creators who  influenced them…not in their greatness, but in their mistakes, and what the fellas took away as COMIC BOOK LIFE LESSONS.

In the 66th episode of the WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR, DANNO KLONOWSKI is joined once again by a friend of over 20 years, music aficionado, podcaster, and now HOST 8 of the WGVH: DAN NORDQUIST!

FIRST: We do some catching up and have some UNO HITTRES including: HOUSE OF CARDS (us), Ken Burns’ THE ROOSEVELTS, UTOPIA (us) vs. UTOPIA (uk), WALKING DEAD lotto tickets, and the wacky world of CATS vs. MICE!

AND THEN: Dan’s knowledge of FAITH NO MORE, one of the bands that brought the two Dans together back in 1990, is tested on the WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR MOVIE GAME!

FINALLY: LET’S GET THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!!!! As you’ve probably noticed a lot of bands whose hey-day was the 1990’s have been getting back together in the last several years for either one-off festival appearances, outright cash-grabs, or sometimes–though rarely–out of the love of their music and fans and friendship. So DAN and DANNO examine this trend and break the discussion down into 4 parts: BANDS WHO ARE DOING IT RIGHT, BANDS WHO ARE DOING IT WRONG, BANDS WE’D LIKE TO SEE GET BACK TOGETHER(for the RIGHT reasons), and BANDS WHO CAN JUST AWAY FOREVER NOW THANKS.

SHOW NOTES:  The Dans bring up the local NPR-funded station THE CURRENT a lot on this episode. To learn more about/stream THE CURRENT, click HERE.

Thanks again to the now EIGHTH and FINAL HOST of the WGVH DAN NORDQUIST, and be sure to check out HIS podcast THE VINYL SCORE MUSIC SHOW.

On the 64th episode of THE WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR, DANNO KLONOWSKI is humbled and delighted to have a conversation with a WGVH Patron Saint and Jack Scagnetti himself— TOM SIZEMORE!!!

FIRST: Danno is thrilled to talk with Tom, and Tom is tickled pink to be on a podcast homaging his “favorite performance”–Robert Downey Jr’s WAYNE GALE!  Tom and Danno then have an interesting look back at how he went from being a kid on the streets of Detroit to one Hollywood’s go-to greats to the overcoming of his well-known battle with addiction.

THEN: Tom and Danno get into some of Tom’s most well-known roles in some of the best films ever made, including NATURAL BORN KILLERS (of course!!!), HEAT, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, and more(!) that Tom has plenty of gut-busting and insightful behind-the-scene stories of the films productions.

FINALLY: Tom–along with his brother Aaron Sizemore, Danny Trejo, Sally Kellerman, David Proval, director Giorgio Serafin, and more– have launched a crowd-sourced return to Tom’s roots with the film AN HONEST THIEF!!!  AN HONEST THIEF will be a classic, but modern, take on the crime noir filmed in Tom’s hometown of Detroit and YOU can help make it happen at their INDIEGOGO site.  There are, of course, all manner of contribution perks–such as a DVD/Blu of the film, hats, shirts, set visits, walk on roles, an executive producer credit and soooooo much more!!! Please check out https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/an-honest-thief and give what you can!

Let’s help Tom and co. make this happen, WGVH listeners!!!

Thanks so much to Tom for his time and candor! We’ll talk again soon, buddy!!!

Welcome to the first episode of the WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR spin-off  WGVH: LIVE FROM BATONGA with MATT RISNES and DANNO KLONOWSKI!!!

The team you fell in love with is back!

Why a spin-off? Well as you know, Matt became a dad in March so his time is very limited. Luckily the internet exists so we can record this show over the phone.  Basically, this is what its like when Danno and Matt talk on the phone anyway–but broadcasted!!!  We apologize the sound quality isn’t what you’re used to, but we’re just happy to be back on the horse!

FIRST: Some summer movie wrap-up UNO HITTRES including NOAH, THE PURGE: ANARCHY, EDGE OF TOMORROW, and Matt and Danno finally have it out over TRANS4MERS vs DAWN OF THE NIGHT OF THE DAY OF THE DEAD OF THE RISE OF THE REVENGE OF THE RETURN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES!

THEN: We have a follow-up to WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR ep 7: WE NEED TO HAVE A TALK ABOUT FRANK (from January of 2013) because FRANK MILLER has been casting his shadow of terrible over Hollywood again this year with the unforgivable 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE and the wretchedly unnecessary SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR.

FINALLY: An impassioned plea: COME BACK, RAFE GUTTMAN!!! THE INTERNET NEEDS YOU!!!!

On the 63rd episode of THE WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR, DANNO KLONOWSKI is overjoyed to be joined once again by former co-worker in the wacky world of HOME SHOPPING, podcast darling, and WGVH Host 7 ANDY SWART!

FINALLY: Danno and Andy nearly come to blows over the age old debate of GUMP v SHAWSHANK: DAWN OF JUSTICE.  Thanks as always for the great and hilarious talk, Mook!

SHOW NOTE: Oops-I accidentally called @hanshoots1st out over a twitter fight about #Godzilla2014 on the new WGVH. I meant @bertwalker321. Apologies, Jack Read.

FIRST: Danno and Jeremy sit down with Chris Meyer, and a couple beers, and discuss Chris’ baby TAPROOM CINEMA—a new monthly film screening series here in Minneapolis at the various Craft Beer tap rooms seemingly poping up everywhere. It’s a fun event, and if you’re in town you should totally check it out.  Then it’s onto some UNO HITTRES including DANGER 5, THE CONGRESS, OLDBOY(s) and many more!

On the 61st episode of THE WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR, DANNO KLONOWSKI is joined by an old friend to both Matt and Danno, CORY SWAP!!!

FIRST: Some UNO HITTRES including CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, AFTER EARTH, CINEMA SINS and many, many more. Seriously. It does go on.

NEXT: Not only is Swaps a podcast virgin, but he is also subjected to WAYNE GALE VARIETY HOUR MOVIE GAME. Play along and see if you can beat Swaps at the pretty terrible fan-film STAR WARS: THREADS OF DESTINY!

FINALLY: Danno and Swaps catch STAR WARS ep VII fever and go over their hopes, fears, predictions, and sift thru the internet speculation of this much anticipated, but at the same time we’ve been burned on this shit before, film.
