Independent Mortgage Banks have been struggling to overcome lingering challenges from the rapid rise of interest rates over the past year. Many have struggled to regain profitability and find a way through this market cycle. Last week was an interesting one. The Fed has announced the official launch date for its real time payment processing platform, FedNow. Many hope this is a road to real time payments for real estate transactions. Last week, a years-long battle between the National Association of Realtors, large MLS systems, and large national franchises against a group of individual plaintiffs alleging monopolistic business practices was granted class status...almost guaranteeing a shakeup within this industry in the future.
