The Weekly Pint

I think we're distant cousins - Gnomes and Leprechauns, which would explain the affinity that I have for this drinking holiday. As we jump into Paddy's day week, I wanted to talk about who's planning to celebrate and how we're celebrating. We also have to talk about what influences us to drink - and probably SHOULD have talked about what influenced me to drink a Four Loco 'PreGame' cocktail... at least my Sapporo was tasty, I suppose?

It's rough being away from Cincinnati for two weeks, but I'm back - and pretty eager to get a Cincinnati beer in my hand! We'll talk about my trip out of town, and what it was like hunting for something good to drink in an unfamiliar city (surprise... they DID have good beer). It's a great chance for us to have a drink together!

I'm not home... and hotel life brings with it plenty of its own problems. I suppose it's a good thing that this isn't a show, because if it were, the chaos would make things a little rough.

I don't know if it's even considered big beer news, but it sounds like BrewDog might be broken up and sold, which gives you a chance to own your own evil empire if you're in the market for it! We talk about that, we drink some beers, we talk about the Ohio Beer Awards.

Let the mixed messages to consumers continue. It feels like we're in the middle of a battle between drinkers and non-drinkers, and most "normal folks" aren't even paying attention. It feels like the government can't decide if they want us to think drinking is good, or bad, evil, or not... let's crack open a drink and talk about it!

A lot of folks want to talk about how the beverage industry (and especially craft beer) are "failing". I think the situation is a little more complicated than most people are discussing... and need to rant about it for a little bit.
