Episode 72 : Homecoming and City Hopping

Nick and Jake are back this week. Nick recaps Juicy Brews: Homecoming! Jake played golf. Nick was blown away by Dewey Beer Co’s Secret Machine and he was really impressed with Hightower Brewing from Rayland, OH (South of Steubenville, not Youngstown like he said on the podcast). We talk about Hop Culture’s festival model and our thoughts on how these fests keep operating at a high level of fun and excitement. After Juicy Brews, Nick and Jake touch on the Steel City Beer/Couch Brewery beef from last week. We take a neutral stand because we are friends with both sides and we support the craft beer community and we stand with local craft beer everywhere. Nick says “at the end of the day” way too many times this episode. To wrap up Juicy Brews: Homecoming, Nick gives his top 3 from the fest. Dewey Secret Machine Triple Double takes the top spot, Secret Machine Blackberry Coconut Vanilla was #2 and Eleventh Hour BYS (Burn Your Suit) took 3rd. Sour series become the focal point after that along with hard seltzers and lactose beers. We wrap up this week pretty abruptly. Cheers!

Nick and Alex are joined this week by Phil from Drunk Planet Glassware! We talk about Phil’s travels, his experience in the craft beer industry and his beer opinions and preferences. He’s currently helping Voodoo New Ken get up and running where he’ll take over as GM when they open up! We chat about the Cleveland craft beer scene and Voodoo opening a new spot there. From there we talk about beer styles and what we’re drinking. We grill Phil with his top 3 beer styles, because duh. We talk vegan restaurants and Black Forge Coffee and Korn Coffee! Episode 69 : The Nicest Episode

This week we have a gaggle of guests! Nick and Alex are joined by Sara, Jake, Austin and Anthony (all returning guests for the nicest episode)! Alex shouts out Grist House! Nick reminds you about Steel City Fall Festival! Tickets are still available! Concerts and travel take the forefront next. Jake went to Great Notion for some coloring books. Anthony is moving to Philly! Austin went to Troegs in Hershey. Alex asks about everyone’s top 3 beer styles for this summer. Jake is the proudest international traveler. Target self checkout anxiety is real when you travel internationally. Hard seltzer and La Croix come up. Spam flavors and space crimes happen. Our favorite Vines make an appearance. We revisit the Yankee Candle conversation and then talk about stand up comedy. Anthony is going to Boulder this weekend. Jake professes his love for Tim Horton’s. As we wrap this week, Alex bitches about content and Jake will be on LIVE next week in studio!

Episode 68 : Content and Beers with Steel City Beer!

This week Shane and Mary are back to represent Steel City Beer Wholesalers again! There’s a lot of stories from the week to start involving riots in Southside and cops drinking at Tequila Cowboy. Shane announced the upcoming Steel City Fall Festival on his podcast The Kitchen Table and we cover what’s going on with the event and we’ll link tickets below! Shane explains the finer points and threatens a great time with a possible giant adult-sized bouncy house. Nick and Alex grill Shane about his social media output and vine comes up (RIP Vine). Alex gets attacked by a spider. DMs are the next topic and Shane shares his favorite angry messages. The next topic was Platform just like everyone else this week. Keeping with the hot topics of the week, seltzers were up next. Drinking with priests and fall beers are up next. Mary has opinions on hazy IPAs. Mary questions Nick and Alex about their favorite dive bar and ‘good’ beer bar. Shane reflects on his video persona. Shane is the guy on your block who hands out beers for adults on Halloween.

Nick lights up this episode with Romp N Roll memories immediately followed by his yinzer accent impression. We cover how we missed out on Fresh Fest this week. We discuss upcoming beer fests and of course Fresh Fest is this coming weekend. Another inclusivity event going on in NYC is Beers with(out) Beards presented by Hop Culture.
