Episode 121 : Bonus Time!

We decided to keep the party going with Trevor and Caiti from Dancing Gnome and we just talk about whatever we decide to talk about. Trevor drops a Veil Forever Summer bottle on us called STARVE: Exhibit C, and it was amazing. The conversation takes us to food trucks and then transitions to first dates. The Bachelor comes up AGAIN, and then Alex asks us what our death row meals would be. We rant about dive bars and service industry drinking and then we remembered we ordered food and the bonus episode came to an end rather abruptly. We hope you enjoy this little extra episode! Episode 121 : Dancing Gnome Beer

Here it is FINALLY! Alex and Nick go on-site at Dancing Gnome in Sharpsburg, PA. We sit down with one of DG’s brewers Caiti and of course Trevor joins and even Sara makes an appearance. Caiti starts us off by explaining how she got into the brewing track. She tells us about her early home brewing career that focused on wild fermentation and sour beers. From there, Caiti tells us about experiencing the hop selection process at home(the brewery) instead of going to the farm due to Covid restrictions. Trevor gives up the goods about how Caiti is doing some experimental batches at the brewery and that leads us into talking about what Caiti is interested in brewing and her role at Dancing Gnome. Alex asks the tough questions like, “Now that you brew beer, does it take away from your enjoyment of beer?” Caiti educates us on what diacetyl is and how it can ruin a beer drinking experience. Caiti drops an exclusive heard here first that they’re collaborating with Necromancer (a new brewery in McCandless) and Old Thunder (in Blawnox), both coming soon. Trevor tells the story of how the “Petite IPA” came around. After that we talk about the effects of Covid on breweries and how we feel about missing the communal gathering of beer drinking. We finish up this podcast with the classic guest questions. First, what are Caiti’s top 3 beer styles and of course her top 5 emojis. Episode 120 : Re-Capping the Gap

Alex and Nick get back in the studio for episode 120. To start off we drink the Cellarworks Cherry Pie Baked Whip and rant about how incredible it is. Nick talks a bit about Dancing Gnome’s Anniversary celebration and we drop the news about doing an on-site podcast at Dancing Gnome! Chewiee makes her grand appearance on the podcast. We discuss the last few weeks in the beer world including waxing cans, the dominant force of information that is @canspgh, our weekly beer photo dump and @thetangleleg sniping a picture of Alex. Then, Alex decides to tell a story about the Bachelorette and we talk about that for far too long. Episode 119 : Vote! And Listen to Us

Alex and Nick sit down this week and talk about the upcoming Dancing Gnome 4th anniversary and celebrating the beginning of fall and STOUT SEASON! We speculate about how breweries fall off or lose their original recipes and grow into the next best beer. Nick talks about his first drain pour in a long time and we spend a little time on Grist House. Nick recounts his day drinking Voodoo wax bottles. Alex visited Stick City in Mars, PA and grabbed a couple of 4 packs including the Imperial which was the collab with Marino’s American Eatery. Nick plugs the Fueled by Hops podcast episodes he’s been on, and talks a little about their community and how everything is based on the “Good Vibes Only” mantra. Episode 118 : Back in the Studio

Nick and Alex got together for the first time in a LONG time. We kick off this episode with some pop culture topics and science news. From there, we cover the news out of Yuengling in Pottsville, PA and beyond! We talk about the beers we’re drinking and how much we love Four Points Brewing. After the beer talk, we rave about Marino’s American Eatery and our experience with Josh and the crew last week. We talk a bit about Hitchhiker and going out in the quarantine rule world. We reminisce about Grist House and some of the standby beers they offer and Alex wants them to make Psychedelic Butterfly again. Episode 117 : Marino’s American Eatery

This episode, Nick and Alex went on location and sat down with Josh, owner of Marino’s American Eatery in Greensburg, PA. Josh opens up about how they got started and a bit about how their business has grown into the powerhouse of local craft beer it is today. We ask Josh about the upcoming Oktoberfest/pumpkin beer season. He touts All Saints’ pumpkin smashing festival. Josh tells us about running his business during the pandemic. After that, we grill Josh with our regular questions about emojis and beer. Josh gives us the inside line on a collab with Union Brothers Brewing. Josh talks about the expansion of knowledge of local craft beer and how people can expand their beer drinking experience through visiting Marino’s. Josh’s favorite craft brewery locally is Brew Gentlemen and he gives us his top 3. Greensburg craft beer week is coming up this week 9/18-9/26 and Stick City did a collab with Marino’s that is a triple IPA (Stick City’s first triple). We all reminisce about West Coast IPA’s for a minute. We talk about the transition from typical drinkers to craft beer lovers. Josh talked a little bit about the Juicy Brews Brunch after Juicy Brews Valentine’s Day and how they pivoted to controlling what comes in and what they were offering. Josh talked a bit about transitioning to the twist top Crowler cans and why he has a mustache. Episode 116 : Nick and Alex Are Not As Drunk

Nick and Alex have been drinking again and so we decided to have a podcast! We start off talking about Nick’s artistic side and his writing. Episode 113 : Beach Beers and Burgh Food

Alex and Nick sit down with Trevor this week to break up the brothers only podcasts. Trevor discusses Dancing Gnome’s handling of the pandemic and other places keeping up with the rules. Trevor spills the beans about a Dancing Gnome pop up to allow for draft beer in Sharpsburg. Trevor then fills us in on his time in Georgia and what the craft scene is like. After that, Alex picks our brains on beach beers and spend most of the conversation flexing on each other with what we’re drinking. Nick bashes skyline chili. Alex has a problem with Ham BBQ as a Pittsburgh tradition and we discuss the Super Burger from Eat N Park and beer pairings with local foods. We get into the rules and regulations put on restaurants and bars and what they look like to some of our favorite places and of course we talk about Voodoo’s BA Day. Trevor wraps up with talk about new breweries who are working to open up during this whole pandemic craziness.
