My main question when I met my surgeon was, "If I am so limited on how much I can eat, can I still do endurance sports?"
I'm about to restructure my whole digestive tract and change 37 years of eating habits, and this is my main question??
The fact of the matter is that there are many changes that occur post-bariatric surgery, and if and how we can enjoy some of our passions and interests, comes into question. It's "the unknown" for many bariatric patients.
2 years ago, I never imagined I'd do a triathlon. I barely was able to walk to the mailbox, let alone do something like this. But like many amazing bariatric athletes, I've done it!
In light of me completing my first triathlon this weekend, The Weighting Table Podcast will be celebrating 2 amazing women in the bariatric community who have also answered the challenge of endurance sports, and have been killing it! We are honoured to have Carrie Perrier (@carrie_perrier_hawkins ) and Corinne MacKenzie (@paramedicchick78 ), come to the table this week, to share with us how they've completely flipped the switch to live the active lifestyles they do now, and delve into what keeps them going to keep pushing themselves to achieve more.
This one is for all of the people, bariatric surgery or not, who tell themselves "I can't do it".
