We have been speaking about what it means to be transformed. It is clear, from the Word, that when we have been redeemed by our God through the Son, that we are no longer the same person. Living as a person who has been saved is not easy, nor is it a foregone conclusion. It requires that we study the Word in order to best grow in our faith as believers. We are able to progress in the strengthening of this faith, but it does not happen on its own. As with all other areas of our life, growth through diligent attention to the details is the blessing of being a true follower of our Christ.

The transformation of the redeemed is not the result of any actions of the one who has been saved. This is not the natural change into beauty of a creature always destined to be a certain way, and simply passing through a normal series of changes (butterfly). The transformation of the believer is miraculous, quite profoundly and simply the work of God alone.

These days, I often speak of City transformation with my friends. There are many who have become convinced that our God desires to see OKC be a city of Salt and Light, a place of health, healing and prosperity for all who live here. A place where the glory of God is revealed in His actions through the Church of Oklahoma City. A place where people are healthy, spirit, mind, body and in their relationships with one another.

So often the concept of joy is one which is considered a soft or almost weak emotion. It is akin to happiness and this may often feelings of whimsy and almost carefree (even careless) joviality. Today, we will look at the pure emotion of joy as created by God and how we, as those in relationship with the Creator, have the opportunity and obligation to seek and engage in joy.

Through our obedience, we declare our commitment and allegiance to God. There are few ways where we can show this more clearly than through the way we address and treat our enemies.

To give thanks is love. It is worship. It is the proper position we should maintain before our God. This makes sense of course. Why then is it sometimes so hard to do? We do need to be reminded sometimes, but we should eventually becomes creatures of habit and intentionally grateful in light of who we are now in Christ.
