In this week’s powerful podcast episode I have a really interesting guest
from Seattle, Washington (formerly New Zealand). Laurette Smith is a
Women’s Coach and Support Group Leader and has been doing this important
work since 2000. She’s a certified life coach and has been featured as a
Conference and Retreat speaker, as well as creating numerous materials and
tools for both mentoring and coaching programs. She uses the scientific
principles of the emotional brain vs the logical brain to help women
implement positive changes in their lives and change habits. On the podcast
this week we dive deep and Laurette is very generous with sharing her
experiences. We talking about how to silence the inner critic (we all have
one!) so that we can use this skill to make long term changes to support
our physical, mental and emotional health.
Born and raised in New Zealand, she moved to the US in 1996 with her
husband, Leighton. They’ve been married for 31 years, live in Seattle, and
have 4 children aged 19 to 25.
Her passion for helping women grew out of her experiences of severe
childhood sexual abuse. She developed an eating disorder as a teenager
which grew into bulimia. She was diagnosed with extreme PTSD and ended up
having a breakdown which left her emotionally stuck. Out of desperation for
change, she began to develop tools to change the messages she was playing
in my head. Her work with women now focuses primarily on teaching them how
to love their bodies, enjoy their lives and coach their inner critic so
they can live life the way they want to.
She runs a free Facebook group called "Love, Laugh, Liberty" and you can
