Today's episode of The Wheelchair Activist is with the unstoppable mentor and disability consultant Kay Ashton MBE. In this episode we discuss Kay's journey to pregnancy using IVF. At the end of today's episode we ask listeners to donate to Planned Parenthood. This episode was recorded before the recent decision taken by The Supreme Court in the U.S to overturn abortion rights, but we feel it's contents are extremely relevant. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people worldwide. We realize that this is a very scary time for women and girls across the world who are worried about their access to a safe and legal abortion.

We stand with everyone scared, and we will continue to fight with you until everyone has the right to choose what they do with their own body.

In this episode, Emma talks to childhood best friend Lanie Berk. Lanie, who has known Emma for over 20 years, is a Child Life Specialist in Chicago. She helps reduce stress and anxiety for children and families and bring some fun in to the hospital setting. "Thus far, this project is self-funded. We want to continue to invest in accessibility of the website and the podcast and promotion of the content as well as hiring a producer. My dream is to one day be able to pay each guest who comes on the podcast because disabled people have done too much for free for too long.

So far I have worked with a virtual assistant who has designed the website, a disabled illustrator to develop the podcast artwork and a disabled freelance accessibility expert to do an audit website to make sure all disabled people can access the content. Each one of these amazing woman has been paid for their work.

This project is so much bigger than me doing a podcast and bogging. It is about providing some much-needed representation for the disabled community and highlighting the issues we face every day. If you are able to contribute towards this project I will be forever grateful." Emma
