I pop open the barrel pick by BIG Bourbon Club Cut Above by Crittenden's Distillery, Kiln, MS
What an amazing aroma and tasting. I could sit all day sipping on this and reminiscing with you all on the porch. Baked apple on the nose, yet on the palate I tasted baked pitted fruits, baking cinnamon, charred oak, browned brown sugar.
Larrikin Whiskey Co. and Slow Burn Cigar & Whiskey Lounge meet.I introduce the Cigar Lounge Blend and their cigar blend to the owner, tobbaconist, sommlier, and a bartender. They give great notes from the bourbon and the cigar. An added treat is tasting the Rose Water.
Ever wonder about cocktails and those spirits that create them? Well today we talk about drinking like ladies. Cocktails that have been inspired by women in history that have made a difference.
It's your Whiskey Granny coming out from a LONG silence. Today I sample Release 15: Inception that was delivered to me in December. I wanted to get this episode released sooner but with having hand surgery, the pain and medication didn't agree with smelling and tasting the nuances of supreme whiskey and bourbon.
Thank you for coming along with me today on this tasting journey.
This should have been episode one. I talk about how I got into whiskey and that it is a women's imbibe. I go from my first taste of beer, wine coolers, love of craft beer, and then to whiskey.
Let me know what you'd like to hear from The Whiskey Granny.
What goes into new oak barrels? What might tasting it do for us? What I found out is that it tastes just as good but the charred oak makes it taste even better over time. And that is how we get bourbon and whiskey.
Come on a bit of a porch journey with me and taste the white dog (new make). The stuff off the still before it goes into a barrel.
What stories and memories might show up?
Come sit a while on the porch with me, the Whiskey Granny. Pour yourself a glass of whatever Maker's Mark you have, or just a pour of whiskey you would like to have on the porch with me.
Today, I have three pours of Maker's Mark bourbon. Maker's Mark No. 46 Cask Strength; Maker's Mark Private Selection by Belmont & Chalet Party Store "The Last Word"; and Maker's Mark Private Selection from Aug 2023 Summer Barrel picked by Belmont/Chalet Party store.
Let's see how they rank on my palate and let me know what you think.
Welcome to The Whiskey Granny Podcast. As podcast by a woman who loves her whiskey and wants to share it with other women. Men, you are also welcome here.
Here we will sit a while to enjoy a pour of whiskey. We will discuss the aromas, the flavors, and whether we like it neat, with a few drops of water, or on a nice cube of ice. We will also discuss cocktails. We will reminisce and relax as we sip.
Please drink responsibly.
