A chat with Ella Ovenden, Higher degree Apprentice from IMB
Ella is Co-lead of Girls in Data which is an organization that aims to inspire and normalize a career in data to girls from 5-18 years old through informing, exposing and dispelling the myths in the industry.
We have launched a curriculum called The Inspiration Sessions which include several lesson plans and workshops for young girls aged 11-17 which aim to show girls how cool it is to work in Data and what kind of projects they can get involved in.
The curriculum involves activities all focused on skills that can be used in the data industry such as data visualization, coding, AI ethics & design as well as incorporating soft skills that are also super important in the data industry. The USP of this curriculum is that it is delivered by a Women in Data who acts a role model for students and can bring their own lessons learnt and storytelling to the students.
