WEEK 16.7 Discussion questions below.
In this week's explore episode, Nick and Jamie dive into John 6:1-25, examining two of Jesus' most famous miracles: the feeding of the 5,000 and walking on water. They unpack the rich symbolism, connections to the Exodus story, and what these miracles reveal about Jesus' identity. Through thoughtful analysis and personal reflections, they explore themes of God's provision, partnership with humanity, divine presence in suffering, and the true nature of Jesus' kingdom.

JOURNAL PROMPTS / SMALL GROUP GUIDE
Read through John 6:1-25. Share what the passage reveals to you about God, about humanity, and about following Jesus. Then discuss some or all of the following questions:
- In the podcast, Jamie and Nick discuss how Jesus still ministered to the crowds with compassion despite his own exhaustion and desire for solitude, but he also had boundaries to send people away so he could be alone. When have you felt completely depleted but were called to serve others? How did you respond, and what might Jesus' example of compassion and boundaries teach you about serving from a place of emptiness?
- The young boy offered his five barley loaves and two fish—everything he had—to Jesus. What "small offering" do you feel hesitant to give to God because it seems insignificant? How might this story change your perspective on what God can do with whatever you're willing to offer?
- Jamie suggests that God doesn't cause our suffering, but may lead us through difficult seasons for growth. Think about a challenging season in your life—how has it shaped you? Can you identify ways that God was present with you during that time, even if you couldn't see it then?
- Jesus' words "I am, don't be afraid" connect his divine identity with his comforting presence. Which current "storm" in your life needs to hear these words? How might practicing a breath prayer of "You are with me/I will not be afraid" affect your approach to this situation?
- The hosts discuss how Jesus shunned political power multiple times, yet the church has often sought such influence. How do you see this tension playing out in your own faith community? What might it look like to pursue kingdom influence in ways that align with Jesus' example rather than worldly power?
End your time by taking a minute to listen to the Holy Spirit and prayerfully choose an “I will…” intention. One small, practical step you’ll take this week to put your learning into practice.
