Have you ever drank a beer out of your shoe? This is essentially what the river community calls a Booty Beer and it's purpose is to prevent future swims, show your respect to your rescuers, and pay dues to the river gods. I personally have participated in this practice and I actually have pretty strong feelings associated with it. In today's episode, I share my opinions and debunk the claims that it is effective in preventing swims. I explain Skinner's theory of Operant Conditioning and provide examples of how we can shift our practices to actually ACHIEVE our outcomes of safety on the river, adequate risk assessment, and building a stronger community with care, support for each other, and intentionality.

Have you ever wondered if your menstrual cycle affects your athletic/adventure performance? Well I'm here to tell you it DOES. On today's episode I talk about the 4 different phases of our cycles and how we can alter our adventure strategies to support our cyclical health and maximize our adventure potential. Give this episode a listen to hear about the 4 phases and specific examples of ways to adventure during ALL of them. This is NOT a go hard or go home approach. It's actually the opposite - we're softies and hardies and we know balance because it's built into our bodies.

Today's episode is all about giving yourself love, kindness and compassion through self embrace. Self Embrace is intentionally touching yourself and becoming aware of your own physical touch. I share more about what self embrace is, how it helps us in our adventure sports and in life, and I guide you through three exercises to incorporate it into your daily practices. Self embrace has seriously impacted how I interact with myself and the outdoor elements without it, I'd probably be a nervous wreck. This episode is deeply personal and way more transformational than any episode I've published before. I hope you enjoy.
