With my podcast I wanted to create great conversations of shared meaning with men that I admire, who are making a difference as men.
By those three standards, I feel confident saying that this third episode of Race and the Renaissance with my friend Jonathan West might be my best episode of all time.
After four conversations so far, we’ve built rapport, a flow, and trust to talk about subjects I don't hear anyone else discussing in the men's space.
But with 2022 approaching, we need to.
In this conversation Jonathan and I discussed:
The Travis Scott Astroworld debacle and what it says about rap music today
My experiences living in Ujamaa, the black theme dorm at Stanford
The need to eliminate victim consciousness in the men's movement
The 90’s movie “Boyz N Tha Hood and what it says about ghetto culture and its place within the black community
And finally, the need for black people to reclaim their culture from the corporations packaging and selling it to them.

It’s not all heaviness, though. Like a proper barbershop experience, there's heartfelt laughter and real comedy between us too, which is my favorite part.
And in that I think we get a glimpse into what a real conversation looks like between men.

Arthur Kwon Lee is an internationally acclaimed fine artist who's exhibited in galleries and collections around the world and been named artist of the year by prestigious institutions.
He received early lessons of masculinity from his “rooftop Korean” pastor father that fed into his classically inspired paintings. But when Arthur took his perspectives off the canvas and onto social media, he discovered the hatred that our culture has for masculinity, as well as for boundaries, discipline, and order — all essential characteristics of great art.
That sent Arthur on a journey that's taken him from cancellation by the art scene into the Manosphere, where he’s made more than a just name for himself, but a home.
In our conversation we discussed:
His origins in the gallery world and how he developed his style
How masculinity generates respect of boundaries
How the arts world is just an arm of the state
Why more wealthy conservatives aren't funding engines of cultural production
An announcement of his upcoming year-long sabbatical
And finally a visual analysis of several of Arthur paintings through various stages of his career

It's been deeply inspiring to me to see the timeless values of religion, art, and personal style making their way further into the Renaissance. This is truly becoming a remarkable movement, one which every day I'm becoming prouder to be a part of.
Because aesthetics lift us up to the divine, and bring the divine down to Earth, which is everything I'm about, as I hope you can see, and which Arthur captures so vividly in his paintings.

Ryan Michler is the host and founder of the Order of Man podcast and movement, and one of my greatest teachers in the Renaissance of Men.
From him I’ve learned about podcasting, consistency, and high achievement. But I’ve also found that he’s one of the deepest and most nuanced thinkers and doers about masculinity, from the jiu jitsu mats to canoe building, fatherhood and hunting.

Dr Warren Farrell is a political scientist, educator, and bestselling author of The Myth of Male Power and The Boy Crisis.
He defected from the heights of the feminist movement, the National Organization for Women in the 1970's, and at great personal cost he set out an adventure to share the truths that he knew about men, women, and families.
The Financial Times of London named him one of the world's top 100 thought leaders. His books are published in more than 50 countries and 19 languages. He's taught at the university level in five disciplines, and been interviewed multiple times by Oprah, Larry King, and most recently Dr. Jordan Peterson.

And how father involvement helps children, and especially boys, live longer

Despite his monumental contributions, some men I meet don't know of Warren or his work. I think in some ways this is indicative of us losing touch with our roots.
But we all need to know where we come from. And it's possible none of us would be here without Warren

President Anthony “Dream” Johnson is the Host and Founder of the 21Convention and 21Studios.
Fifteen years ago at age 18 he started a meetup group, that became a conference, then a convention, then three conventions—some around the world—and now a summit.
Along the way he had the idea of filming the men who spoke at his events and releasing their talks free to the world. With that decision he surfaced the work of men that had given their lives to exploring vital aspects of masculinity.
He calls what he's built a watering hole. I think it's more like a fountain.
And in exchange for the gifts he’s given masculinity, femininity, and families, Anthony's taken something for himself: a tongue-in-cheek expression and reliable test of whether or not someone has a sense of humor, the title "President of the Manosphere."
I've always loved it. I think it suits him and his brash, outspoken style.
In our conversation we discussed,

TJ Reeves is a neuroscientist, athlete, psychedelic adventurer, and the founder of a startup called Acts Decentralized Real Estate.
His company aims to help large communities of people source, purchase, and develop packages of land, so that can begin moving off-grid and establish sovereignty.
Even the name Acts is inspired by the biblical book of Acts, about a community coming together around a shared spiritual pursuit. So naturally TJ and I had a lot to talk about.
In our conversation we discussed:
The dialogue between sovereignty, and arrete, or spiritual excellence
His self-initiation through psychedelics, and how they helped him escape from the mental prison of higher education
The ACTS business model, how it works, and what it provides
The reality of the transhumanist agenda, which he contributed to, and which you must be made aware of
His discovery of the manosphere, and his personal interaction with none other than the good doctor himself, Dr. Jordan Peterson

Now, I don’t have a crystal ball, but it seems to me that TJ has found a need in a market. Will he succeed? The answer might be up to me and you.
But after talking with him for several hours, I think his pitch is worth a listen.

Alison Armstrong is an internationally acclaimed educator and expert on understanding men, women, and relationships. She’s also the bestselling author of “The Queen’s Code.”
Yes, the Renaissance of Men podcast is about men and masculinity, but in her book, Alison writes, “To know men is to love them.” To me, that earns her a seat at the table.

Celebrated British author Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) is the author of one of the best-known and most beloved poems in the world, “If.”
Kipling writes in plain language, about situations and scenarios that we can recognize, even if they aren't familiar to us from our everyday experience.
He explains how being a Man is a result of decisive action, not simply being, while laying out a sort of “North Star” for excellence to guide us in how we conduct our lives.
I couldn’t think of a better work to re-start my Poetry for Men series, after a long hiatus.

Jeff Liboiron is a martial artist, voice over performer, fiction and non-fiction author, and most recently, poet.
It was his poetry that brought him to my attention. His writing is vivid, brutal, and real. It revels in graphic violence, blades and flowing blood, dark skies, screams, and steel. And the celebration of a crumbling empire's final, fatal collapse... and the dangerous world its corpse will leave behind.
In our conversation we discussed:
How being born without half a leg influences his approach to fighting and martial arts
The notion of a behavioral delivery system for how to communicate that you're a dangerous person before you have to demonstrate it
The limitations of most martial arts trainings in term of real-world applicability
