The year was 2009. Imam Wisam Sharieff, while studying with a group of 10 other students of knowledge in Egypt, got on camera and declared to the world the birth of what would be his first video series: "Knowledge Travels," which not only chronicled lessons and reminders, but videos about cats, palm trees, potato vendors and more.
In this debut episode of the Wisam Sharieff podcast, join Imam Wisam Sharieff and co-host Jawaad Khan as they discuss the origins of this unique series of vides that would ultimately lead to the creative approaches of Imam Wisam's later work teaching Tajweed and Quran in a fun, yet accessible style.
Also hear them reflect on the early days of Islamic content on YouTube, the struggles of uploading video in a country with spotty internet coverage, and what the next generation of Islamic content-makers should keep in mind.
