This week, we are joined by one of the newest members of the Wisconsin Runner Racing Team, Andie Shine. A native of Crystal Lake, IL and 2019 graduate of the University of Iowa, Andie has spent her first three months in Wisconsin diving into both the post-collegiate racing scene and her first year of law school at UW-Madison. The 22-year-old found time between law classes to finish 5th overall at Al's Run (27:22 for 8k), win the Whitewater Half Marathon (1:19:12), and throw down a 2:46 debut marathon this past weekend in Indianapolis.
Andie gives us some great insights to her unique beginnings as a runner, as well as her propensity for major breakthroughs rather than linear gains, including going from a last-minute walk-on at Iowa to their top runner. We took a ton away from our time with Andie, especially her perspective into cycles of self-belief, self-doubt, and self-discovery. She has already accomplished a tremendous amount in her running career, and is remarkably thoughtful and reflective about her journey so far. We were excited to share that conversation with her, and are beyond excited to see what the future holds for such an awesome human!
