Rachel shares the story behind her memoir, The Widow Chose Red?, which chronicles her journey with her husband, John, through his terminal ALS diagnosis and the profound experience of becoming a widow at 49 while raising two young sons.
We explore what it means to live through the dying process, support someone facing a difficult diagnosis, navigate grief while caring for children, and continue moving forward when life doesn't turn out as expected. Rachel also shares practical ways to make room for both grief and joy, maintain faith during uncertainty, and rebuild after devastating loss.
At the heart of our conversation is Rachel's message of “Putting the I Back in Spirit”—learning how to remain connected to yourself, your faith, and your purpose while navigating life's hardest moments.

In this episode of Wisdom Movers Podcast, we sit down with Ross “Yergz” Yerger, a former U.S. Secret Service Special Agent, intelligence professional, historian, political scientist, and now political commentator and radio host.
After 21 years in the Secret Service and a lifetime of experiences centered around impartiality, Ross brings a unique perspective to today’s increasingly polarized political environment. We discuss why politics has become so divided, the dangers of viewing everything as “us versus them,” and how Americans can learn to have more productive conversations across political differences.
Ross also explains why fact-checking matters, how to distinguish evidence from opinion, and why he believes people should be willing to change their minds when the facts prove them wrong.
Whether you follow politics closely or simply want to better understand the forces dividing society, this conversation offers a thought-provoking look at politics, critical thinking, media, and the importance of seeking the truth rather than simply defending a side.

In this episode of Wisdom Movers Podcast, we sit down with Ken Kunken, a lawyer, author, father, and extraordinary example of resilience and determination.
In 1970, while playing football at Cornell University, Ken suffered a spinal cord injury that left him almost totally paralyzed from the shoulders down. Rather than allowing that injury to define the limits of his life, Ken returned to Cornell, became the first quadriplegic to graduate from the university, earned multiple graduate degrees, became an attorney, and went on to serve more than 40 years as a Nassau County Assistant District Attorney.
We explore how Ken maintained high expectations for himself, found motivation after a life-changing injury, overcame barriers that had never been overcome before, and continued pursuing ambitious goals. We also discuss his journey into law, the importance of giving back, dealing with stress, finding purpose, and becoming a father to triplet boys.
Ken's story is a powerful reminder that circumstances may change our path, but they don't have to determine how far we go.
