We're going to get into something we usually don't.  We're going to read from the original 1611 King James in the book of 1st Maccabees and get into the story of Hanukkah or the Feast of Dedication, which Jesus is recorded as celebrating.  In this episode, we get into what led to Antiochus Epiphanes desecrating the Temple and defiling the Brazen Altar with a sow.  You might be surprised to find that there are significant parallels to what led to that event and the state of the Western Church today.

Welcome to our 100th episode. When you're ministering in the wilderness every now and then, God will have you go into town and you see things you didn't notice before the wilderness experience.  We conclude our discussion of what happens when you're sent back.

We weren't planning on talking about Ministering in the Wilderness again, but we were reminded of something that marked not only our wilderness experience but also some of the Bible heroes we mentioned in our last two podcasts: Going into town.  

We continue to show what it's like not only to be in the wilderness to get closer to God but also what it looks like when He has you minister to others in this environment. We look at Scriptural examples of Elijah, Elisha, and John the Baptist. (and a few more...)

We've talked a lot about the wilderness experience, where God gets you alone with Him and everything else shuts down so you can know Him more intimately.  However, there are times where you can end up ministering to others going through the same experience.  We talk about some personal experiences and get into the Word and talk about Moses ministering in the wilderness. In our last episode, we got into the Old Testament to look at what it looks like when God calls you.  In this episode, we look at New Testament examples and also share the process of how God called us to do what we're doing now.

Churches will tell people that they have a calling from God on their lives.  Well what does that mean really?  We get into the Old Testament and delve into what it looks like when God calls you and point out some commonalities in the process.
