Come join us this evening as we welcome Joseph Strider to the fire as we chat about the journey, the music and the Man.

Acoustic guitarist Joseph Strider has covered a lot of musical ground in his career thus far. From boy soprano in school choirs, to playing with a cover band, Strider has spent the years developing his own unique style, a style that fits in no established genre and can best be described as modern Indigenous alternative.

As a child Strider received professional vocal training. As a teen and young adult he gained valuable experience over a six year period of touring in his home state of Texas. In the years since he has refined his unorthodox playing style, determined to fully utilize the potential of the acoustic guitar. Since reappearing on the music scene he has pursued his career with a determination and eloquence that not many can match.

Inspired by his Cherokee heritage, North Carolina singer/songwriter Chris Ferree released his first Native American CD in 2007 titled “Invocation“. Influenced by Robert Mirabal, Bill Miller, and Mary Youngblood, among others. “Invocation” is rooted in the traditional, while balancing on the edges of world and classical.

A combination of strong traditional Native American flute, drums and percussion, fused with contemporary instruments and various ethnic sounds. The result was a ten song collection of diverse instrumentals that ranged from haunting and meditative to spontaneous and moving, reflecting the spiritual journey of a man looking into his past trying to find a way of understanding the present.

Kelly (Mexican, Apache, & Spanish) was born in California now but now resides in the Midwest. She has been singing for as long as she can remember & has performed everything from musical theater, pop, Italian opera, and madrigal arrangements, to mariachi music & Native drum songs.

Kelly considers herself a “song catcher” rather than a song writer. She rarely sits down to write a song, but rather observes, hears, and sees truth & then allows the words and melodies flow from there. Many of her songs are birthed from prayer, dreams, visions, and personal revelations. To say Kelly's work is Powerful and Moving is an understatement, it comes from a spiritual connection that has empowered her to in turn inspire the people...

Her writing, teaching and personal journey all explore how we can each become the individual we are at the deepest level of being and how we can co-create meaning together in the world. Oriah is the author of several best-selling books: The Invitation (now translated into more than fifteen languages), The Dance, and The Call: Discovering Why You Are Here. Her book, What We Ache For: Creativity and the Unfolding of Your Soul, explores the challenges, rewards, and necessity of doing our creative work. Opening the Invitation is a small book that shares Oriah’s story of writing and sharing her much-loved poem.
