About Dr. Daphne:
Dr. Daphne Bascom, MD, PhD, is a physician, former head and neck cancer surgeon, women’s longevity coach, and creator of Dr. Daphne’s Longevity Lab.
Dr. Daphne spent much of her career working inside the healthcare system, although she now believes “sick care” is a more accurate description of what much of that system is designed to provide. Modern medicine can do extraordinary things when someone is sick or injured. It can diagnose disease, treat infections, repair injuries, manage chronic conditions, relieve suffering, and sometimes save lives.
That realization now drives her work. Today, she helps women take a more proactive approach to how they age by developing the strength, fitness, healthy habits, and physical reserve their future selves will depend on, so they can build a strong, healthy body they love living in for decades to come.

I didn’t start building a body I truly loved living in until I turned 40.
At the time, I was going through a divorce, living on potato chips, and drinking a case of wine a week. Professionally, I was successful, but personally I was burned out, unhealthy, and to be frank, my life felt like it was in shambles.
The irony was not lost on me. I was a physician. I understood disease, I knew the devastating price tag that poor health could eventually cost, and I certainly knew what I was “supposed” to be doing. But knowing what you need to do and actually doing it are two very different things.
For years, I pushed aside my own health. Work came first, other people came first, stresses in my life compounded, and I kept telling myself I would take better care of myself later. When I turned 40, something shifted. “Later” suddenly did not feel so far away, and I decided to finally start putting myself and my health first.
For my 40th birthday, I gave myself a gift that ended up changing the course of my life: I hired a coach. I began resistance training, cleaned up my diet, and started approaching my strength, fitness, body composition, recovery, and health with a level of intention I never had before. Six years later, at 46, I earned my IFBB pro card as a competitive physique athlete, competing alongside women half my age.
By the time I turned 60, I could knock out 18 pull-ups in a row, I was running more than 20 miles most weeks, and I was stronger, fitter, and far healthier than I had been at 40. And it’s hard to put into words how amazing that feels.
I am not sharing those things because I think your goals should look like mine. You do not need to become a physique athlete, run 20 miles a week, or do a bunch of pull-ups. Those are simply parts of my story.
I am sharing them because I want you to understand how much is still possible, even when the world starts sending you messages that you are “past your prime.”
Screw that.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, how long it’s been since you felt strong, how many times you’ve started over, or how far away you feel from the woman you want to become.
I have watched firsthand as thousands of women in our program became stronger, fitter, and more confident in their bodies than they ever thought possible. I’ve watched women who assumed their best years were behind them completely transform their health, their bodies, and what they believed they were capable of.
Your age does not get to decide what is still possible for you.
Please hear this clearly: You are not too old. You are not too late. There is still so much you can build from wherever you are today.
In this first episode of The Women’s Longevity Podcast, you’ll learn:
Thank you for being here!
