How do you know that a story is well written? Well, one way to make this determination is to see how you feel when you read, watch or listen to a story. Whether in books, TV shows, or movies. Story is all around us and how certain stories resonate with us can say a lot not only about the story itself but also about what it's pulling at within ourselves. It can be very revealing! The best way to move past feelings of stuck-ness is to get out of your own way. And most importantly, keep moving forward. Don’t let the feeling of being stuck stop you from taking any action at all. The answer will unfold for you once you take a step back and stop blocking your own way. Trust and faith are great practices to strengthen in order to do this.

Like most creatives, I think for writers, our creativity comes out even more when we are in a place of struggle or uncertainty. Burnout. We’ve all been there before. And what’s important to know is that burnout can happen not only from things you don’t enjoy, but from things you DO, also. Self-care is so important each and every day. And so is knowing your limits.

This week our theme is SHADOWS. I’m particularly fond of this topic because I’ve always been intrigued by shadows in every form. But first, let’s hear the standard definition of a shadow which is “a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface”. Of course, we know that shadows in the general sense are created by more than just bodies. Any object can create a shadow.

This week I recommend finding a good tree to sit under on the next sunny day you spend outside. Or even just a few minutes while waiting for the bus or walking your dog.
