We are on the horizon of a genetic revolution that promises to remove much of the suffering we currently endure as humans. But as wonderful as this might seem, there are some negatives to completely removing suffering from our lives. We will explore those pitfalls in our first sermon series of 2020 Brave New World.

Perhaps the most consistent things about humans beings is that we are inconsistent. We present ourselves as being one way to the people who see us in public, but we often act very differently behind closed doors. This Sunday we will discuss how one of the most important aspects of Jesus’ birth and life is setting us on a path towards authenticity.

One of the problems we face as humans is that we all want to be the directors of our own lives. This is easier said than done. Chaos always seems to find a way into our lives. The question we are contemplating this Sunday is how we can find control in the midst of chaos.

Socrates says, “The more I know, the more I realize I know nothing.” This week we are going talk about the paradox of how our intelligence leads us to uncertainty is at the heart of the Christian faith.

Jesus’ life teaches us what Glenn Cunningham discovered after his accident: the person who revels in their weakness will eventually find strength, while the person who only focuses on their strengths will eventually be overtaken by their weaknesses. The question I want to pose to you this morning is what is your weakness? What is that area of your life that you have avoided because you know it is something that holds you back?
