The Work of Art Coaching Podcast

Through a story about magical found furniture, Lynn shares how there's probably a reason behind why something isn't working, be it physical, emotional or craft related. When we can slow down, release judgement, and give ourselves permission to get curious, we can usually discover a logical reason behind what's keeping us stuck. In doing so we can begin the process of moving forward toward a solution.

Lynn talks with her ol' college chum, the impressive Andrea Prestinario. Andrea is an actor, a singer, a musical theatre performer, a Queer soprano, and the founder of Ring of Keys: a national organization for community and visibility for musical theatre artists onstage and off who self identify as Queer Women, Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming. Andrea has been seen in American musical theatre classics like My Fair Lady, Side Show, Rent, Fun Home and more. She has shot over 25 commercial, conceived, wrote, produced and stars in, "sMOkeyTOWN: The Songs of Smokey Robinson," her tribute show to Smokey Robinson, and is creating of a theatre piece called Project 35 about women over 35 who are childless or childfree. They talk about courage as being IN THE ARENA, advocacy through education and "calling in" vs. "calling out," reminisce about the ups and downs of their college experience, and bond! Lynn sits down for the second part of her conversation with visual artist, Peter Van Dyck. They talk about the act of making art of various mediums, the inevitable self focus of the artist, the challenges to enter "flow" and focus, the difference between teaching and coaching, and seeing beauty in everything.

Peter Van Dyck is an American painter, draftsman and general life-enthusiast living part-time in Philadelphia, PA and part-time in Elba, AL. His website states: "My primary practice is the making of oil paintings but I also make drawings, do home improvement projects of dubious quality and contemplate the nature of existence to the irritation of my family and friends." He also teaches painting and drawing at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts among other places.
