Today's guest Siddharth Kansal is an Applied Sport Scientist, who works at his firm, The Kansaltant, with a variety of individuals, and athletes from different sports. He helps them achieve their sporting and fitness goals through personalized training and nutrition along with constant analysis and assessments, using sport science. He has also been a martial arts instructor for 6 years and has been in the field of fitness consulting for over 10 years. He is working and has worked with athletes based in different countries, from several sports, including - cycling, running, triathlon, badminton, tennis, football, taekwondo, karate, and rock climbing. He was a state level 400m and 800m runner, before moving on to cycling, where he raced at the club, district, and state levels.
In this episode we talk about his journey in cycling, the work he does at The Kansaltant and the difference between a consultant and a coach, both roles which he plays in different ways. We also talked about topics like how to read research papers to separate the valuable nuggets from fluff, the importance of honesty in working with athletes, what is a good approach for rehab, the mental side of rehab, the importance of nutrition and the role mindset plays in sports performance. I really enjoyed geeking out with him on various topics related to sports performance. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
