Guest Katie Wallace: Educator, Brand Storyteller, Copywriter
Telling a story is one of the most powerful ways to get people to connect with your brand, but what if you feel like your story isn’t interesting or like you have nothing to say? A lot of people struggle with this, but it’s simply not true! Storytelling is such an important aspect of growing your brand. Stories create emotion, and emotion sparks action!
Today, I’m talking with Katie Wallace, longtime friend of mine and jack-of-all-trades writer, with journalism being her foundation. Katie is a brand storytelling wizard, and she is sharing her best brand storytelling tips about why you need it, where you need it, and how to do it.
Check out a summary of Katie’s top tips!
Who, what, where, when, and why; these five Ws that you might have learned as far back as grade school are still fundamental when trying to tell a story! Katie has pared this down to the even simpler three Ps: person, place, and problem.
The more specific you get, the better! Sensory input is one of the best ways to get readers to connect with your story.
Picture an inverted pyramid, the top is where you want all your important stuff goes. Cut things first from the bottom that houses the less important info.
When you’re done writing, always run your work through some sort of spell-check. Both Katie and I love Grammarly.
Katie is offering my listeners a free copy of her e-book, 15 Brand Stories You Can Tell Today. Check it out and get started!

Guest Renee Warren: Author, Educator and Entrepreneur
Do you have a great business idea and just don’t know where to start, or maybe you have already launched your business, but you need help standing out in a noisy space? If either of these scenarios sound like you, listen up, because today I am talking to entrepreneur extraordinaire, Renée Warren.
Renée is an award-winning entrepreneur, author, and public speaker who now helps women launch and grow the businesses of their dreams through her company, We Wild Women. Today, I’m picking Renée’s brain for her best advice for first-time entrepreneurs looking to launch their businesses in this crazy world we live in.
Check out a summary of Renée’s tips below and listen to the podcast for her in-depth advice and anecdotes!
You have to construct who your ideal customer is and then structure EVERYTHING you do around serving that ideal individual. Reach out and interview five or ten people with open, non-leading questions related to the main goal of your business to help you understand the core problem of your customer.
A good network is critical to building a business. You have to surround yourself with knowledgeable people that build you up, but also aren’t afraid to tell you when you may be going a bit off course. Make sure to always take risks and always provide value when you do.
The most successful CEOs are those that are calm in a crisis and have some sort of meditative practice. Meditating doesn’t have to mean sitting quietly with your legs crossed for an hour; it’s anything that calms you down and resets your mind.

When I started out in business, I tried to be all the things to all the people. And you know what? It sucked. It sucked for me, and it sucked for my potential customers who weren’t sure, what, exactly I was all about. I lost sales and sleep over writing copy and content, sales and marketing, and big business decisions because I didn’t know who I was trying to reach.
In this episode of the Workshop Weekly podcast, we’re getting up close and personal with your ideal customer. If you’ve ever wondered what words to use in your marketing to drive sales and interaction, this episode is for you! We’ll dish up some simple steps you can take today to get zeroed in on your ideal customer so you’ll know exactly what to say and do to delight your ideal customer and grow that empire, starting RIGHT NOW!
An ideal customer represents your perfect customer. This one single person is the potential customer who wants and needs your content, your products, or your services. Their exact needs are met by your offer.
And to be perfectly clear - this also has to be someone who you want to work with, as well.
When I first got started, my ideal customer for my photography education, AND for this podcast, by the way, was actually me 10 years ago. A mother who is exploring the entrepreneurship scene, looking to escape the confines of her soulless job, looking to take control of her lifestyle, and really ramp up her business venture. She is hungry to connect with someone who has gone before her, yearning for more purpose in her life, eager and excited to learn how to do all of the things. If it sounds like I just described you, that is probably not a coincidence.

Guest Amanda Hanson: Personal Stylist and Educator
Have you ever met someone and you just immediately thought - this is someone who I connect with? Like you just immediately know: I want this person in my life, and we are going to be friends for a long long time? That was how I felt when I first met Amanda. I was photographing her wedding actually, and I realised, this woman is a thinker, she shows up unapologetically, and she innately wants to help lift up the people around her. And, I learned since then, that our stories are actually very similar.
If confidence is something you struggle to find within yourself, I want you to settle in for this episode and hear Amanda’s advice for digging into your soul and uncovering the confidence that lies within you. I truly wish for every woman to hear her message and learn about the steps that need to be taken, and the work that needs to be done to radically love the skin that you are in. Not the someday skin, not the goal body, but to start loving who you are right now, today, so that you can show up in the world with your full potential. She is one of my most favorite people to talk to and I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.
