Buzzfeed did a survey asking people about situations where we might be getting something free, and if we consider it stealing. Check this list out!

1.  A cashier fails to scan an item, and you don't mention it.  63% said yes, it's stealing.  Also, if you fail to mention they gave you too much change, 76% think that's stealing.

2.  You scan an onion instead of an avocado at self-checkout to save 50 cents.  73% said it's stealing.

3.  You tell a friend they left something at your place, but they never pick it up.  So a few months later, you start using it.  78% said no, that's not stealing.

4.  You tell a joke that your friends assume you came up with.  But you actually read it online and don't correct them.  63% said no, that's NOT stealing.

5.  You accidentally take someone else's coat when you leave a restaurant, and it's nicer than yours, so you keep it.  93% agree that's stealing.  7% think it's NOT.

6.  You return something you bought on sale, and the store refunds you the full price instead of the sale price.  55% said no, it's not stealing.

7.  An online purchase gets "lost" in the mail.  Then it arrives weeks later after you already got a refund, so you keep it.  54% said yes, it's stealing.

8.  You take a bunch of extra sugar packets from a coffee shop to use later at home.  83% think it's totally fine and shouldn't count as stealing.

A new survey for Giving Tuesday found the average American does five good deeds a month.  And the most common small act of kindness we've done is giving someone directions.  Two-thirds of us have done it at least once in our life.

 

Here are the ten most common good deeds we do . . .

 

1.  Giving someone directions.  66% have done it.

2.  Holding a door for a stranger, 65%.

3.  Letting someone with fewer items cut in line at the store, 60%.

4.  Helping someone cross the street, also 60%.

5.  Doing a chore or errand for a family member or friend, 56%.

6.  Adding a small donation to charity when you check out at the store, again 56%.

7.  Donating clothes to a thrift store, 55%.

8.  Helping someone carry their groceries, also 55%.

9.  Returning a lost item, also 55%.

10.  Paying for a stranger's meal.  53% of people said they've done it.

Doctors in Maryland recently placed someone in "suspended animation" for the first time ever . . . kind of like they do for deep-space travel in sci-fi movies.  But in this case, it's for people with serious injuries who would die before doctors could save them. They replace your blood with ice-cold saline to cool your body down to about 50 degrees.  Then they do surgery, get blood back into your body, and wake you up.
