The Gatestone Institute put out a detailed report of the massive persecution Christians and other religious minorities are experiencing through Turkeys government officials the public and even social mediaSome of those persecuted include refugees who fled persecution in other Middle Eastern countries

The World View spoke to Claire Evans Middle East Director for International Christian Concern about why Turkey hasnt taken kindly to all the refugees

There is a feeling of when you have a huge influx of refugees that theyre displacing the local population and so theres a social tension that often results between local and the new refugee population that are always very difficult to work through

Category 5 Hurricane Irma made landfall in the Caribbean yesterday roaring over the islands of Saint Martin and Barbuda with wind speeds of 185 mph At least two people have died on the islands of St Barts and St Martin according to CNN

The Texas Governor has also declared this Sunday as a day of prayer He encouraged Texas to seek Gods wisdom for ourselves and our leaders and ask for His merciful intervention and healing in this time of crisis

Samaritans Purse Helps People in Victoria While Preparing to Go to Houston

Disaster relief units are an important part of helping Houston and surrounding areas

The World View interviewed Kristin Koning an assistant program manager with Samaritans Purse who is with a disaster relief unit in Victoria Texas They are waiting for the ok to go into Houston and begin helping and supporting those affected by the hurricane

Meanwhile Samaritans Purse is assisting those in Victoria who were impacted by the storm Koning told The World Viewthat the people in Victoria are hopeful

The spirit of the people here as they see help coming and as power starts to return to the town I do think that those are all signs of hope and when they know that people are helping them I think that they are greatly encouraged So theres definitely devastation and heartache here still but I do see especially with the passing of the storm and relief efforts theres a lot more encouraging things happening in their lives

Nine Indian Christians were arrested in May on false charges of forcing children to convert to Christianity who came to a Christian summer camp they were running Just this past week the remaining six imprisoned Christians were released on bail

William Stark of International Christian Concern told The World View that their release came when the case went to the higher courts

They had their bail rejected four times in the lower courts before they actually brought their case up to the high courts
