Coptic Christian Egyptian woman forced to convert to Islam

Authorities in Egypt participated in the kidnapping and forcible conversion to Islam of a Coptic Christian woman, reports Morning Star News.

Irene Shehata, a 21-year-old medical student at Asyut National University, disappeared on January 22 between mid-term exams in Asyut.

Her father reported in February that she had managed to make a desperate, tearful call to her brother before a man seized the phone, according to Coptic Solidarity.

During the call, Irene begged her brother either to rescue her or consider her dead and told him her location. Her brother heard her screaming, someone was yelling at her, and then the call ended. It seemed that she used the kidnapper’s phone without his permission.

Having learned that she was in the city of Sohaj, the family went there and reported the phone call and her location to police. Oddly enough, the police threatened to arrest the family if they tried to rescue her and warned them that the kidnappers were armed.

Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”

State Security officials have been dismissive and hostile to Irene’s family, telling her father that she ran off with a Muslim man of her own free will.

But the family described her kidnappers as “an organized terrorist group led by the Muslim Brotherhood to kidnap Christian girls in the Middle East.” The father said six other Christian girls or women “disappeared” from the area in one recent month.

Egypt ranks 38th on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian.

Georgia prosecutor against Trump resigned

Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor working with the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, resigned his post after a judge ruled Friday that District Attorney Fani Willis and her office may remain on the 2020 election case involving former President Donald Trump and his allies if Wade stepped aside, reports CBS News.

Wade's resignation as special prosecutor came hours after Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee laid out two options that would allow for the continued prosecution of the racketeering case against Trump and his co-defendants stemming from an alleged scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. 

Defense attorneys zeroed in on Fani Willis’ inappropriate romantic relationship with Nathan Wade in which she benefited financially since Wade paid for their romantic getaway trips to Aruba, Belize, and Napa, California, using money he received through his contracts to be special prosecutor in the Trump case.

Judge McAfee's order came after he tossed out six counts included in the indictment returned in August, including three against Trump. 

Mike Pence will not endorse Donald Trump

During an interview Friday afternoon with Martha MacCallum on FOX News, former Vice President Mike Pence said he will not be endorsing former President Donald Trump in 2024.

MacCALLUM: “We have not spoken since former President Trump sewed up the nomination. Will you be endorsing your former president. You were on the ticket with him last time around?”

PENCE: “It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year. I'm incredibly proud of the record of our administration. It was a conservative record that made America more prosperous, more secure, and saw conservatives appointed to our courts, and a more peaceful world.

“That being said, during my presidential campaign, I made it clear that there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues, and not just our difference on my constitutional duties that I exercised on January the sixth.

State in India seeks to imprison Christians who pray for the sick

State lawmakers in Assam, India want to penalize Christians who pray for the sick, reports Christian Headlines.

The legislation, entitled the “Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill 2024” will unfairly target local Christians who pray for God to heal the sick.

The ban, which passed the state assembly on February 26th, declares, “No person shall take any part in healing practices and magical healing propagation for treatment of any diseases, any disorder or any condition relating to the health of a person (relating to human body) directly or indirectly giving a false impression of treatment to cure diseases, pain or trouble to the human health.”

Those violating the order for the first time can face one-to-three years in prison, a fine of $600 or both. However, a subsequent conviction may lead to up to five years in prison and/or a fine of $1,200.

Canadian bill could “send Christians to jail’ for quoting Bible

Lawmakers in Canada are considering legislation which, if passed, could criminalize the act of quoting Scripture in defense of biblical marriage, sexuality, and other Christian views, reports The Christian Post.

If the religious exemption is removed, any religious or faith-based expression that refutes or condemns gender ideology, child sexualization, and other similar topics could potentially be deemed by Canadian courts as “hate speech” and lead to criminal prosecution for Christians and other religious groups.

The proposal, Bill C-367, currently under review in the House of Commons, would repeal the “religious exemption” in Section 319 of the Canadian Criminal Code, which critics say could open up Christians and other religious groups to “hate speech” charges over any comments or criticisms of the homosexual/transgender movement.

While Bill C-367 comes in response to recent antisemitic demonstrations in Canada — including one in which a Muslim activist called for Allah to “exterminate” what he called “Zionist aggressors” — some organizations, like the Canadian pro-life group Campaign Life Coalition, warn the legislation could lead to more criminal prosecutions against Christians.

In February, David Cooke, a leader with the pro-life group, wrote, “No longer will we be allowed to share God’s design for human sexuality and marriage in public. No longer will we be able to speak out in the name of God against drag shows for kids, child drag, or child sex change. All this could be misconstrued as ‘hate speech’ against the LGBT community. Even our pro-life message could be spun as a ‘hate crime’ against women.”

Over the last decade, Canadian lawmakers have passed a number of bills aimed at curbing speech in deferment to the homosexual lobby.

Vice President Kamala Harris celebrates baby-killing at abortion mill

On Thursday, Kamala Harris became the first U.S. vice president to personally tour an abortion mill, reports LifeSiteNews.com.

She visited a Planned Parenthood death chamber in St. Paul, Minnesota as part of her so-called “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour, which has been ongoing since January. 

HARRIS: “The United States Supreme Court took a constitutional right, that had been recognized, from the women of America. … These attacks against an individual's right to make decisions about their own body are outrageous and in many instances just plain old immoral.”

Global government restriction of religions is up

A new report from Pew Research found that worldwide government restrictions on religions reached peak levels in 2021. 

The report gauged the level of restriction on a 10-point scale. The global median level of government restrictions on religion increased to 3.0 in 2021, up from 2.8 in 2020. It’s the highest recorded number since Pew Research began tracking it in 2007.

Christians in particular faced harassment by governments or private actors in 160 countries, up from 155 in 2020.

Irish voters rejected unbiblical definitions of family

Last Friday, voters in Ireland rejected measures that would have changed the constitution’s language about marriage and the family.

The “Family Amendment” would have expanded the concept of family to include unmarried couples and the idea of marriage to include other so-called “durable relationships.” The “Care Amendment” would have removed language from the Irish constitution that supported the work of mothers at home.

Seventy percent of voters rejected the Care Amendment, and 65% rejected the Family Amendment.

Psalm 128:3-4 says, “Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD.”

No more puberty blockers for British minors

On Tuesday, the United Kingdom’s National Health Service announced the end of puberty blocker prescriptions for minors outside of clinical trials.

A spokesperson for the health service said, “We have concluded that there is not enough evidence to support the safety or clinical effectiveness of puberty-suppressing hormones to make the treatment routinely available at this time.”

The decision comes as the U.K. has started to urge doctors to use caution when treating children with gender confusion.

Trump and Biden are officially rematched

In the United States, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump won their respective parties’ nominations for the White House.

Voters cast their primary ballots in Georgia, Mississippi, and Washington on Tuesday. This gave Trump 1,249 delegates. He only needed 1,215 for the Republican nomination. Biden secured 2,107 delegates. He only needed 1,968 for the Democratic nomination. 

The results set up Biden and Trump for a rematch of the 2020 presidential election.

TRUMP: “We have to win an election. And we should win it by a lot because there's never been anybody worse at doing that job than Joe Biden. So, we're not going to take time to celebrate. We'll celebrate in eight months when the election is over.

“November 5th, I believe, will go down as the most important day in the history of our country. So, start thinking about it. Start thinking about your vote because this vote is going to be the most important vote you've ever cast.”

It’s the first presidential rematch since 1956. It’s also the first rematch since 1912 between two people who have both been president.

Pro-lifers trying to end abortion trafficking

Anti-abortion activists are still working after the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the banning of abortion in most cases like in Texas.

Mark Lee Dickson is the founder of the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Initiative and a director with Right To Life of East Texas.

He said one of the abortion loopholes they are trying to close with sanctuary cities is abortion trafficking. He said, “The loopholes we’re closing of course, are things like abortion trafficking, the taking of pregnant mothers across state lines for the purpose of abortion. … And then along with that, we’ve got to address this reality that these waste management companies can pick up from abortion facilities without consequence.”

Haitian unrest continues

Civil unrest in Haiti is affecting churches across the Caribbean nation.

Christian leaders and missionaries have faced abduction for years as gang activity has increased.

Archbishop Max Leroy Mésidor of Port-au-Prince told Aid to the Church in Need, “There are kidnappings everywhere. As soon as you leave [the capital], you are in danger. … The gangs even come into the churches to kidnap the people there. … We must bear our cross and follow Christ. … The most important thing is that the Church continues to bring people together despite all the difficulties.”

Haitian Prime Minister to resign over gang violence

On Monday, Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced he will step down in response to widespread gang violence.

Last week, armed groups freed thousands of inmates from two of Haiti’s largest prisons. Gangs now control about 80% of the country’s capital. The United Nations estimates that 1.5 million people are starving during the unrest.

Dr. David Vanderpool, who heads LiveBeyond, a ministry to Haiti, talked to CBN News.

VANDERPOOL: “This is sort of the culmination of gangs running the country for the last three or four years. The government has collapsed. The President was assassinated in 2021. The judiciary was also terminated as well as the parliament. So, there's not been an effective government in place since 2021.

“The gangs have had full run of the country. We need to pray for the safety of the individuals, especially the vulnerable populations, pregnant women and children, older people. We need to pray that we're able to get food and medicine into Haiti.”

Trump loyalists cut 60 jobs at Republican National Committee

In the United States, former President Donald Trump continues to cement his control of the Republican National Committee.

Last week, he overwhelmingly won Republican primaries on Super Tuesday.

Last Friday, the Republican National Committee voted to make Michael Whatley its new chair and Lara Trump its co-chair. Whatley was the chair of the North Carolina Republican Party and fully supports Trump. Lara is Trump’s daughter-in-law. 

Just days after installing his new leadership team at the Republican National Committee, Trump’s lieutenants cut dozens of staff across key departments, reports the Associated Press.

More than 60 people were fired in all, including senior staff in the political, data and communications departments inside the committee’s Washington headquarters.

Only 12% of voters say abortion most important issue

A new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation found only 12% of voters say abortion is the most important issue for their vote this year.

Of those who said abortion is the most important issue, most of them were young, Democrat voters.

Republicans were more likely to view abortion as a moral issue than Democrats. But 43% of Republicans support abortion in all or most cases. Only 14% say abortion should be illegal.

U.S. gov't identifying Christians & Trump-aligned citizens as threat

Alliance Defending Freedom has shared a disturbing report from a U.S. congressional subcommittee about federal surveillance.

According to the report, the government used banks to identify Americans it deemed as threats based on their financial activity related to religion and politics.

People could get flagged for keywords like “MAGA” and “TRUMP” or even the purchase of books including religious texts.

Inflation up again

Inflation continued to increase last month.

The consumer price index rose 0.4% during February. That’s up 3.2% compared to a year before. 

Rising energy and shelter costs were behind the inflation which is still about the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%. The Fed is still expected to cut interest rates at some point this year.

Elderly British pro-lifer arrested for holding sign outside abortion mill

An elderly British woman, Livia Tossici-Bolt, is in trouble for holding up a sign in the proximity of an abortion clinic in Bournemouth, England. It said, “Here to talk, if you want to.”

The Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council has proceeded to charge Livia with a crime. Her legal defense is supported by Alliance Defending Freedom UK.  

The U.K. government passed legislation in the Public Order Act in 2023 enforcing censorial buffer zones around all abortion facilities, and banning any form of “influence.”  

Evidently, the home office has since issued a clarification, generously allowing “for women to engage in consensual conversations of their own free will" and "to pray inside of one’s own mind.”  Livia was attempting to abide by the narrow confines of these regulations, but she still faces charges.

Ukrainian Baptist pastor’s daughter and grandson die in drone attack

On March 2nd, a Ukrainian Baptist pastor’s daughter and grandson died in a drone strike in Odesa, Ukraine, an attack that resulted in the deaths of 12 people. Twenty others were injured.  

The Baptist Standard reports that the father and grandfather of the victims is Nikolai Sidak  — “a well-known and respected pastor of an independent Baptist church in Odessa.” Odessa is just south of Kyiv on the Black Sea.

Trump meets with Hungary’s Victor Orbán despite media naysayers

Hungary’s president Viktor Orbán met with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump over the weekend at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago complex in Palm Beach, Florida.

The liberal media is referring to the Hungarian leader as a dictator, a despot, an autocrat, and an authoritarian.

Hungary:  A light in Europe

Orbán’s party, the Hungarian Civic Alliance, was re-elected for a fourth term in 2022 by a vote of 53.7% to 34.4%.  

Orbán said, “The horrors of Nazism and communism happened because some Western states in continental Europe abandoned their Christian values.” In addition, he noted, “Today's progressives are planning to do the same.”

Why American right has embraced Hungarian President Viktor Orbán

Voice of America explained why the American right has embraced the Hungarian President.

Hungary is one of the only nations in Europe that prohibits the promotion of transgenderism or homosexuality to minors — legislation that was signed by Orban in 2021.  

Mildly pro-life, Orban’s government has required that mothers must listen to the heartbeat of their children before having the child aborted.

Hungary reported 21,730 immigrants in 2021, compared to Germany’s 874,000, Spain’s 529,000, France’s 336,000, and Italy’s 318,000 immigrants. 

Plus, the Hungarian government has also nixed all income taxes for mothers under 30 as well as mothers with four or more children. As a result, Hungary’s birth rate has improved from 1.25 to 1.55 since 2010. And the Gross Domestic Product per capita increased from $14,000 to $18,000 over the same timeframe.  

France added abortion as a constitutional right

Meanwhile, on Friday, the French legislature brought the right to abortion into the nation’s constitution — what some are calling a “world first.”  

The constitutional amendment passed the parliament by a vote of 780 to 72, supported by many “far right” members. 

In Psalm 94:3-7, the Psalmist asks, “Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph? They utter speech, and speak insolent things; All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. Yet they say, ‘The Lord does not see nor does the God of Jacob understand.’”

Nigerian Muslims kidnap 287 students

Nigerian Muslim militants, armed with AK-47s, attacked a school in Kaduna State, kidnapping at least 287 students, reports The Christian Post.

It marks the second large-scale abduction in Nigeria within a week, after Boko Haram militants abducted 200 other women and girls living in displacement camps in Borno State.  According to persecution watchdog Christian Solidarity Worldwide, this is a frequent operation zone for the group.

The pattern of abductions, frequent since the kidnapping of 276 mostly Christian Chibok schoolgirls in April 2014, has intensified in northern Nigeria, with armed groups targeting rural communities for ransom.

South Korean Methodists excommunicate pro-perversion pastor

South Korea's Methodist Church has excommunicated a pastor for his participation in homosexual activism, reports AFP.

The Korean Methodist Church upheld its lower church ruling to excommunicate Pastor Lee Dong-hwan after it discovered the pastor's advocacy of perversion in a country where homosexual faux marriage is not recognized.

In its verdict, the denomination said, "The church doctrine stipulates acts of agreeing or sympathizing with homosexuality amount to rules violations. Participating in and officiating a blessing ceremony to bless sexual minorities by scattering flower petals, waving a large rainbow flag in the square in front of Seoul City Hall, and proposing a blessing ceremony for homosexuals ... are all acts of approval or agreement with homosexuality."

Laughably, the 43-year-old pastor called the verdict "shameful.” He added that “excommunicating a pastor for blessing sexual minorities will go down in the history of Protestantism as dark history that will only invite laughter later." 

Perhaps the pastor has never read Leviticus 18:22 which says, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”

President Biden’s lies in State of the Union speech

Last Thursday night, President Joe Biden delivered his 67-minute-long State of the Union speech to Congress.  According to The Federalist, he articulated 30 provable lies.

Biden claimed the U.S. has “the lowest” inflation rate in the world. 

BIDEN: “Wages keep going up and inflation keeps coming down. Inflation has dropped from 9% to 3%, the lowest in the world and trending lower.”

The truth is that when Biden took office, inflation was 1.4% and real wages were positive.  Since he took office, costs are up 17% and real wages are down 2%. Food prices are up 20%, rent is up 18%, and electricity is up 24%. Plus, numerous countries currently have a lower inflation rate.

The president regurgitated the lie that his administration has “created 15 million new jobs.”

BIDEN: “I inherited an economy that was on the brink. Now, our economy is literally the envy of the world. Fifteen million new jobs in just three years, a record.”

That assertion is false, as Biden conflated jobs recovered after COVID-19 lockdowns with actual, new jobs created.

Biden falsely claimed he “cut the federal deficit by over one trillion dollars” and has been “delivering real results in a fiscally responsible way.”

BIDEN: “I've been delivering real results in fiscally responsible ways. We've already cut the Federal Reserve of over a trillion dollars.”

Both claims are false. In fact, the U.S. national debt has risen by more than $6 trillion since Biden took office.

Biden falsely claimed the Trump tax cuts “overwhelmingly benefit[ed] the very wealthy and the biggest corporations.”

BIDEN: “The last administration enacted a $2 trillion tax cut, overwhelmingly benefitting the top 1%, the very wealthy, the biggest corporations.”

1,347 displaced Nigerians killed by Muslim extremists

International Christian Concern visited 17 different camps for Nigerian Internally Displaced Persons in three counties that were attacked by the Fulani Muslim militants between December 2023 and January 2024.  

Tragically, 1,347 displaced Nigerians were killed from last year until now, most of whom were women, children, and older adults who could not run to escape.  Specifically, 741 people were killed in Mangu County, 397 people were killed in Bokkos County, and 209 people were killed in Barkin Ladi.  

Naomi David, a 43-year widow in Barkin Ladi County said, “Help us with food.”  Nine people were killed in her family, including her husband. She explained, “My village was attacked by Fulani [militants] on Christmas Eve. The total number of 22 people [were] killed from the attack. … Fulani have occupied our land to graze their cattle.”

Democrats upset with Biblically-sound prayer in Congress

On February 15th, 26 Democratic Congressmen expressed their outrage that Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel in Chino Hills, California was allowed to pray as a guest chaplain in the U.S. House of Representatives on January 30th, reports The Christian Post. 

In a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson, who had invited him to lead the prayer, they blasted Hibbs as a Christian nationalist who was guilty of “spewing hateful vitriol” toward homosexuals because he has dared to affirm a Biblical view of marriage and sexuality.  They were especially upset that he claims that America was founded as a Christian nation.

In a subsequent appearance on “Ministry Now” on Daystar TV, Hibbs explained the motivation of our founding fathers.

HIBBS: “Our founding fathers said we're not going to start the business of the nation without prayer. People don't realize that.”

He also noted some of the strange rules that governed his prayer, some of which he disregarded.

HIBBS: “There are existing rules that say, for example, you're to avoid ‘Father.’ That might offend some people. You can't bring up Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior ..."

Co-HOST: “What?”

HIBBS: “...because that's proselytizing.”

Two Christian Pakistanis acquitted of false blasphemy charges

Praise God! A judge in Pakistan acquitted two Christians of false blasphemy charges last Friday. The charges from last year sparked a mob of 5,000 people. They destroyed church buildings and sent hundreds of Christians fleeing. 

The attorney for the acquitted Christians told Morning Star News, "The brothers are free and are with their family now. However, it is not safe for them to return to Jaranwala due to a serious threat to their lives. Though they have been acquitted from the court, there have been multiple instances where people accused of blasphemy have been killed by vigilantes despite being found innocent by the courts.”

Argentinian President Javier Milei opposes “gender ideology” language

Argentina’s President Javier Milei is continuing to crack down on so-called “inclusive language” in the government.

He has opposed “gender ideology” and the reshaping of language to fit sexually perverted lifestyles. 

On February 23, the country’s military announced it would eliminate inclusive language. And on February 27, a Milei spokesman said the country will “initiate actions to ban inclusive language … throughout the national public administration.”

Milei was elected last November and is known for opposing socialism and abortion as well.

Donald Trump trounced Nikki Haley on Super Tuesday

Fifteen states held their presidential primary elections on Super Tuesday.

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump overwhelmingly won the primaries for their respective parties.

Biden has 1,500 delegates and needs just over 1,900 to secure the Democrat nomination. No other Democrat candidate secured delegates.

Trump won every Republican primary yesterday, except in Vermont, where Nikki Haley won.  

TRUMP: “They call it Super Tuesday for a reason. (Cheers) This is a big one!

“November 5th is going to go down as the single most important day in the history of our country. (claps) And we're going to make it like it should be: respected. Right now, we're not respected. Right now, our country is known as a joke. It's a joke. Other leaders, who I speak to, other leaders can't believe what happened to us.

“Because three years ago, we were the most respected country anywhere in the world by far. We were doing things that nobody could believe. China was paying us billions and billions of dollars. In twenty five years, they paid us nothing, zero, not 10 cents. I was getting billions of dollars. And we were respected by everybody.

“We had no wars. Remember when I had the debate with Hillary Clinton? She said, ‘Look, look at him. Look at that personality. He's going to cause wars, wars.’ I said, ‘No, my personality is going to keep us out of wars.’ And that's what happened.” (cheers)

Now, Trump has just over 1,000 delegates. He needs 1,215 to win the Republican nomination, setting him on track for a rematch with Biden.

Nikki Haley exits race, refuses to endorse Trump

Yesterday morning, Nikki Haley, Trump’s last major GOP presidential rival in the primaries, suspended her 2024 presidential campaign, reports the Associated Press. 

HALEY: “I am filled with the gratitude for the outpouring of support we've received from all across our great country. But the time has now come to suspend my campaign. I said I wanted Americans to have their voices heard. I have done that. I have no regrets. And although I will no longer be a candidate, I will not stop using my voice for the things I believe in.

British police admit their restrictions against Christian preaching were wrong

Authorities in the United Kingdom agreed to a settlement with a Christian leader in a free speech case.

Dia Moodley is a pastor in Bristol, England and has evangelized on the streets for years. In 2021, police issued him a warning notice. It banned him from criticizing other religions and worldviews. With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, Moodley challenged the notice.

Recently, the Avon & Sommerset Police Force finally acknowledged their restrictions were “disproportionate.”

Moodley said, “It isn’t for the police to decide which religions or worldviews can be free from criticism. When I preach, I am committed to speaking about the Good News of Christianity in love, grace, and truth–but that doesn’t mean that I will never say something that others may disagree with.”

Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

Religious people had less depression during COVID lockdowns

Speaking of the United Kingdom, a new study from the University of Cambridge found religious people suffered the least during COVID-19 lockdowns.

The survey covered nearly 4,000 people in the U.K. It found religious people had far lower rates of depression during lockdowns than people who said they did not believe in God.

The study noted, “If one were to ask if religious people cope better in a crisis, an examination of the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic would suggest that the answer is yes. … The findings of this study may then also have policy implications for future pandemics in terms of what to do about closures of places of worship during a pandemic.”

France is first country to enshrine abortion as a “right”

France is the first country in the world to enshrine abortion as a so-called “right” in its constitution. 

Parliament members voted 780-72 in favor of the measure on Monday.

The killing of unborn babies has been legal in France since 1975. The recent push for abortion as a constitutional right came in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the U.S.

In Psalm 94:20-21, David asks, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You? They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.”

Super Tuesday: Donald Trump close to claiming GOP nomination

Here in America, 15 states held their primary elections yesterday collectively called Super Tuesday.

Fox News reports that former President Donald Trump is likely to capture the lion's share of the 854 Republican delegates up for grabs as he moves significantly closer to locking up his party's presidential nomination over his last remaining rival: Nikki Haley.

Midlothian Texas becomes 68th sanctuary city in America

Meanwhile in Texas, the city of Midlothian became the latest sanctuary city for the unborn.

Last Tuesday, the City Council of Midlothian outlawed abortion in a 5-2 vote. It’s the 51st city in Texas and the 68th in the U.S. to pass such a measure.

Mayor Justin Coffman said, “I am proud to be a part of passing an ordinance in the city of Midlothian to become a sanctuary city for the unborn. I believe in affirming life and protecting the health and well-being of our current and future citizens from the womb to the tomb.”

Tennessee protects God-honoring wedding officiants from homosexual agenda

People in Tennessee cannot be forced to perform a marriage against their conscience under a new law.

The state’s Republican Governor Bill Lee signed the legislation last Wednesday.

Senatorial resolution calls for worldwide religious liberty

United States Senators Chris Coons, D-Del., James Lankford, R-Okla., Tim Kaine, D-Va., and Thom Tillis, R-N.C. have introduced a resolution calling for religious freedom around the world.

The resolution specifically calls on the Senate to recognize religious freedom as a fundamental right, to condemn the criminalization of religious exercise, and to promote religious freedom as a priority in US foreign policy. Violators called out in the resolution include Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, China, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Nigeria, North Korea, and Russia among others.

Christian Solidarity International reports freeing 1,500 slaves from Islamic bond slavery last year in Sudan.

Joel Veldkamp told CBN of a young man who was forced into the Islamic religion while a slave, but, upon his release from slavery, learned about Jesus and became a Christian. Listen to this.

VELDCAMP: “I'm thinking of one young man I met named Garong, who was just old enough when he was enslaved to know that he didn't come from a Muslim background, but not old enough to really know anything about Christianity at all.

“So, he grew up in slavery and he grew up being forced to learn the Quran and go to Islamic school at night and work during the day. Always being told he was a Muslim, always being forced to pray like a Muslim, but he always resisted and he never accepted that this was his identity.

“And then when he came back to South Sudan, he had the chance for the first time to learn what it meant to be a Christian. And he learned the Jesus story and he told me, ‘The Jesus story is way better. Jesus came and He gave Himself for the world. He doesn't force anyone to follow Him. He doesn't force anyone to worship Him. He just loves us.’”

Ghana and Uganda passed anti-homosexual laws

While most countries in the world are liberalizing laws on homosexuality, a few African nations are doing just the opposite.  

Ghana’s parliament approved a law last week which would impose a five-year jail sentence for forming or funding groups advocating homosexuality, and a 10-year jail sentence if one is guilty of encouraging children towards homosexuality. Uganda passed a similar bill in 2023. And the Kenyan government is considering a Family Protection Bill as well.

2 Peter 2:6-7 reminds us that God “condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.  He rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked.”

Violent anarchy in Haiti

Anarchy rules on the streets of Port Au Prince, Haiti.  

Armed groups have torched police stations, and thousands of prisoners have been released from prisons.  CNN reports that 80% of the capital city is now controlled by gangs.

Thousands of persons have been kidnapped, and over 300,000 are homeless because of recent unrest.  The U.S. State Department recommends no travel to Haiti due to “kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.”

Even American missionaries have largely pulled out. Mission Aviation Fellowship halted flights into Haiti last November. Pray for Haiti.

Supreme Court unanimously rules states cannot take Trump off ballot

Here in America, the U.S. Supreme Court set the Colorado Supreme Court on its heels Monday, ruling unanimously that Donald Trump should, in fact, remain on the ballot for the 2024 presidential elections, reports NBC News.

The Colorado court had invoked the 14th Amendment, Section 3 to the U.S. Constitution, ruling that President Donald Trump had engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” against the U.S. Based on this ruling, should Donald Trump gain the Republican nomination, he will appear on ballots in all 50 states this Nov
