Russia strikes Ukrainian Baptist church killing pastor at prayer meeting

Russia struck a Baptist church in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia during a prayer meeting, killing at least one person, a minister, and injuring at least eight others, reports The Christian Post.

The Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. gave the casualty figures in a public statement issued while rescue workers were still on the scene, identifying the targeted building as The House of the Gospel Church, which had served the community for years, according to the Baptist Press. The embassy called the strike a deliberate attack on people of faith who had gathered peacefully to pray.

Promoters of a documentary series entitled “A Faith Under Siege” on Russia’s persecution of Christians, identified the man killed as Ruslan Utyuzh, a minister at the bombed church. Utyuzh is survived by his wife and two children.

Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.”

Despite the attack, the congregation held services as normal the following morning with a large turnout, and 200 people came forward to be baptized.

Iran reverses course on reopening Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump said Iran "can't blackmail us" after the country announced they were reimposing restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday morning, reports Fox News.

He added, "We have very good conversations going on. It's working out very well. They got a little cute, as they have been doing for 47 years, and nobody ever took them on. We took them on. They have no Navy. They have no Air Force. They have no leaders. They have no nothing. …  It is regime change."

Despite Iran wanting to close the strait again, Trump said in the Oval Office that negotiations are "going actually along very well." Trump also cited how oil tankers are now coming to U.S. ports to fuel up, including in Texas and Louisiana.

President Trump said, "We're taking a tough stand. They've killed a lot of people. A lot of our people have been killed. A lot of your fellow soldiers have been killed over the years by Iran.” He cited how he ordered the strike that killed Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's elite Quds Force, in January 2020.

Trump described Soleimani as the "father of the roadside bomb." He explained, "When you see soldiers with no legs, with no arms or face that's been smashed, that was Soleimani, it was Iran that did that. So we have a much different view on it than other presidents. They've gotten away with murder for 47 years. They're not getting away with it anymore."

While Iran wants to keep enriched uranium, Trump won't allow that

Iran had sought an agreement allowing them to “down-blend” their enriched uranium. According to Axios, “A top priority for the Trump administration is ensuring Iran can’t access the stockpile of nearly 4,400 pounds of enriched uranium buried in its underground nuclear facilities, in particular the 992 pounds enriched to 60% purity.”

The Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation noted that most commercial nuclear power plants use 3 to 5 percent enriched uranium compared to 90 percent enriched uranium for nuclear weapons.

Before the outbreak of the war, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff told Fox News that in March, Iranian negotiators boasted to him that they had enough enriched uranium to build 11 nuclear weapons.

He explained that the Iranian negotiators apparently said “they had the inalienable right to enrich all their nuclear fuel that they possessed. We, of course, responded that the president feels we have the inalienable right to stop you dead in your tracks.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz initiated last Monday was costing Iran up to $435 million a day, including $276 million in lost exports. The blockade, coupled with weeks of air strikes from the U.S. and Israel, which devastated Iran’s steel and petrochemical facilities, has the country’s economy on the brink of collapse.

Homosexual “dads” mock their surrogate-born baby for crying “mama”

A homosexual male couple has triggered outrage across the internet after posting a video of themselves mocking their surrogate-born baby for crying “mama,” reports LifeSiteNews.com.

Country music singer and songwriter Shane McAnally, a homosexual, posted the video of his faux “husband” Michael Baum lying on a couch, playfully bouncing the baby on his stomach as he asks, “Who do you want, Dada or Pop?”

BAUM: “Who do you want Dada or Pop?”

BABY: “Mama, ma.”

BAUM: “Do you want Dada or Pop?”

BABY: (fusses)

BAUM: “Who do you want? Dada or Pop?”

BABY: “Mom.”

BAUM: ”Nope. Do you want dada? You want pop?

BABY: “Mom.”

BAUM: “No way, Jose. There is no mama.”

BABY: (starts crying)

BAUM: “So sorry. You have Dada and Pop.”

McANALLY: “Two choices.”

BABY: (cries more)

BAUM: “No Mama.”

Oddly enough, they posted that video on line. Officials with Surrogacy Concern, an organization that seeks to end the evils of surrogacy, wondered, “Who films their child crying and uploads it to the internet? And who subjects a child to their pathetic vanity like this? Babies need their birth mothers.”

And children’s rights activist Chris Elston, better known as “Billboard Chris,” wrote, “These men laugh as the baby cries and says ‘ma ma ma.’ They think it’s funny because ‘there is no mama,’ This baby was designed to never have a mother so that two men could satisfy their selfish desires. It’s impossible for a normal person to watch this without instinctual disgust.”

In Matthew 19:4-5, Jesus asked, ““Haven’t you read, that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?”

Anniversary of death of Martin Luther’s aid who translated Bible

And finally, on April 20, 1558, Johannes Bugenhagen, the prominent Lutheran reformer and pastor who helped Martin Luther translate the Bible, died.

He said, ““The church is not a place but a people, gathered by the Word of God and sustained by faith.”

Bugenhagen also explained that “True worship is not found in outward ceremonies, but in a heart that trusts in God’s grace.”

The Lutheran reformer introduced the Protestant Reformation in the Duchy of Pomerania and Denmark in the 16th century. 

After the death of Luther in 1546, Bugenhagen kindly took care of Luther's widow, Katharina von Bora, and Luther’s children.

Proverbs 21:21 says, “Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

Nigerian Government Convicts Nearly 400 on Terrorism Charges 

A federal high court in Abuja, Nigeria, has convicted 386 people on terrorism charges in one of the largest mass convictions in recent times. Those convicted were linked to Islamic State West Africa Province or to Boko Haram, a deadly terrorist group founded in northern Nigeria, reports International Christian Concern.

The convictions come as the Nigerian government faces significant pressure from the United States to curb terrorism within its borders and to more effectively protect vulnerable Christian communities caught up in the violence perpetrated by these Islamist terrorist groups.

Reports indicate that the Muslim terrorists convicted received sentences ranging from five years to life in prison. Authorities originally charged 508 individuals. Two were acquitted, eight were discharged, and 112 cases were adjourned.

Former Virginia Lt. Gov shot and killed wife & self in murder-suicide

A Virginia police chief delivered disturbing news at a press conference yesterday about a murder-suicide, reports NewsNation.

DAVIS: “Former Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax shot and killed his wife inside of their home and then shot and killed himself.”

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said the husband and wife were found dead at their home in Annandale, Virginia, on Thursday.  Former Lt. Gov. Fairfax was recently served some paperwork associated with an upcoming divorce court proceeding which led to the incident. While they were separated they were still living in the same home.

Davis said the couple’s two teenage children were at the home when Fairfax shot his wife, Cerina, “several times” before running to a different part of the house and turning the gun on himself. The shooting took place shortly after midnight, and police said one son called 911. Both Fairfax and his wife were pronounced dead at the scene.

The police chief added, “Tragic for the children to lose both parents. Extra tragic for them to actually be in the home when it occurred.”

ABC’s Joy Behar: Jesus never claimed to be the Messiah

On April 14th, Joy Behar, the self-professed agnostic on ABC’s talk show The View, asserted that Jesus never claimed to be the Messiah, reports The Christian Post.

BEHAR: “Jesus Himself did not run around saying, ‘I'm the Messiah. I'm the Messiah.’”

SARA HAINES: "That’s exactly what Jesus said!"

BEHAR: "No he did not. Jesus was more modest than that. Jesus was not narcissistic like this guy [Trump]."

HAINES: "When you are the Messiah, it’s not narcissism to say it!"

BEHAR: “Yes it is.”

In John 4:25-26, Jesus had a conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. “The woman said, ‘I know that Messiah’ (called Christ) ‘is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.’ Then Jesus declared, ‘I, the one speaking to you—I am He.’”

In John 16:15-17, Jesus asked His disciples, “‘But what about you? Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you… for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in Heaven.’”

And in Mark 14:61-62, the high priest questioned Jesus and asked Him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” Jesus replied, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One.”

More U.S. young men attend church

More young men in America report that they attend church, or other houses of worship, at least monthly, according to a Gallup poll released Thursday, reports The Washington Post.

Forty percent of men, ages 18 to 29, attend religious services monthly or more often. That’s a seven percentage point increase from 2023, and the highest percentage who have reported doing so since 2013.

Pockets of young Americans, especially men, are joining faith communities and driving increased attendance at church and religious gatherings. Although women have historically been more religious than men, male and female attendance at houses of worship, for people under 30, is now statistically tied.

Martin Luther refused to recant on April 18, 1521

And finally, 505 years ago, on April 18th, 1521, Martin Luther was called before Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms to recant his teaching which rejected the authority of the Catholic Church and underscored the authority of Scripture.

Luther uttered these immortal words that day that launched the Protestant Reformation, depicted here in the 2003 movie entitled “Luther.”

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

1 million Lebanese displaced by Middle East conflict

The recent war in the Middle East between the U.S., Israel, and Iran has displaced over one million people in Lebanon. 

Israel has bombed targets in Lebanon associated with Hezbollah, a Muslim militant group backed by Iran. 

Christians make up a third of Lebanon’s population. Sadly, Israel’s bombardments there have lead to the deaths of over 2,000 people, including Christians. 

Michel Constantin with the Catholic Near East Welfare Agency said, “Towns and villages in which Christians live in south Lebanon have also been violently attacked without any warning. Israel has bombed areas that have nothing to do with Hezbollah.”

United States brokers peace deal between Lebanon and Israel

The United States brokered peace talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday. It’s the first time the two countries have held diplomatic talks in decades. 

Lebanon and Israel agreed to work towards ending the influence of Hezbollah, the terrorist group.

Slow economic growth this year because of Middle East war

The International Monetary Fund expects global economic growth to slow this year due to the war in the Middle East. 

The conflict is driving up energy prices and disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. 

The International Monetary Fund projects global growth to slow to 3.1 percent this year. That’s down from its original forecast of 3.3 percent.  

70% of Americans think taxes too high

Yesterday was tax day in the United States.

A new Fox News Poll found a record 70 percent of voters think their taxes are too high. That’s up from 60 percent in 2025.

Also, 75 percent of people see government spending as wasteful. That’s up nearly 20 percentage points since 2025.

The average single worker in the U.S. sends just under a third of their income to the government. That’s according to a report by the Cato Institute. 

U.S. fertility rate down

The U.S. fertility rate fell to a new low last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

The general fertility rate in 2025 was 53.1 births per 1,000 females aged 15 to 44. That’s down one percent from the rate in 2024 and down 23 percent from 2007.

The fertility rate for women in their 20s has dropped significantly. Meanwhile, the rates for women in their 30s and early 40s is growing.  

Hegseth and Rubio will read the Bible aloud

Nearly 500 leaders from all spheres of influence are about to gather in Washington, D.C. to read the entire Bible aloud.

The Museum of the Bible is hosting its “America Reads the Bible” event from April 19 to 25. Participants will read Scripture for 12 hours each day.

Readers include Rev. Franklin Graham, Dr. Ben Carson, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Six governors and 20 members of Congress will also be reading the Bible aloud. 

The event’s website says, “In honor of the 250th birthday of the United States, America Reads the Bible serves as a spiritual celebration of our nation’s founding ideals and a call to rediscover the truth that still anchors us today.”

Nehemiah 9:3 says, “And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the LORD their God for one-fourth of the day; and, for another fourth, they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God.”

Oklahoma principal risked life to stop school shooter

An Oklahoma high school principal risked his life to stop a school shooter last week.

The 20-year-old shooter opened fire inside the lobby of Pauls Valley High School last Tuesday afternoon. The principal, 60-year-old Kirk Moore, charged the shooter, tackling him to the ground. Another staff member helped disarm the gunman. 

Moore was the only person injured in the incident, suffering a shot to his leg. However, he is healthy and recovering after being hospitalized.

He wrote in a statement last Friday, “I am grateful that my instincts and training, as well as God’s hand, were available to me on Tuesday.”

John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Today is the FINAL day to see “A Great Awakening” Christian film

And finally, as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the word “liberty” is resurfacing in cultural debates, but for Sight & Sound President Joshua Enck, it carries a deeper meaning, inspiring the ministry’s new film, “A Great Awakening,” reports The Christian Post.

“On the Liberty Bell, it quotes Leviticus 25:10 which says, ‘Proclaim liberty throughout all the land and to all the inhabitants thereof.’ Wnck, who also directed this film, said, “I want that liberty to ring out over this nation once again in the hearts of men and women.”

The film centers on the unlikely friendship between 18th-century evangelist George Whitefield and Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, a deist. 

Whitefield, widely regarded as one of the most influential preachers of the Great Awakening, traveled thousands of miles on horseback throughout the American colonies.  

Enck said, “It was the first shared experience across the colonies. Eighty percent of colonists didn’t just hear about Whitefield; they heard him preach. They were unified by something they could all believe in.”

Remarkably, he spoke 18,000 times to 10 million people in person. One scene depicted in the film shows Whitefield preaching in a coal field in Bristol, England, drawing miners from underground. He wrote in his diary that he saw white streaks down their blackened cheeks from tears.

The director explained, “They were a team. Franklin was the greatest promoter of the greatest event in American history. There were many preachers leading up to 1776, but there were none like Whitefield, and when you combined the power of his voice with Franklin’s ability to get the word out, it unified the colonies.”

According to Enck, before the political revolution came spiritual awakening. He noted, “Our tagline says it all: ‘Before the revolution, there was a revelation.’” 

In the film, Whitefield delivers a line that encapsulates Enck’s understanding of biblical liberty: “Blood will be shed for the liberty you’re talking about, but blood was already shed [by Jesus Christ] for the liberty.”

He added, “This film doesn’t shy away from the Gospel. We don’t soft-shoe anything.” Rather than portraying historical figures as flawless icons, the film highlights their humanity and need for a Savior.

British street preacher criminally investigated for Gospel proclamation

A pastor in Britain has suffered months of criminal investigation for street preaching.

Police arrested Pastor Dia Moodley for his Christian speech in Broadmead, Bristol last November. He faced arrest previously in 2024 for simply commenting on Islam and transgender ideology. 

Pastor Moodley is considering legal action against the police with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom International. He said, “I merely preached the Gospel to all people out of love for God and my neighbor. For the police to suggest I cannot do this in areas where Muslims are present sets a very dangerous precedent for free speech.”

Two European courts ruled against abortion mill buffer zones

European countries have tried to ban pro-lifers from helping pregnant women entering abortion mills.

However, Evangelical Focus reports two courts in Europe have now ruled against such so-called “buffer zones.” A court in Germany ruled that pro-lifers did not break the law by displaying religious images near an abortion mill. Similarly, a court in Vienna, Austria ruled that peaceful prayer near abortion mills cannot be banned. 

Besides these “buffer zone” laws, pro-lifers in Europe have also faced violent attacks in recent years for their peaceful demonstrations. 

Court awards arrested pro-life activist $1 million

In the United States, a Christian pro-life activist secured a one million dollar settlement against the Department of Justice last week.

Back in 2022, federal agents raided the house of Mark Houck, a volunteer with 40 Days for Life. Authorities arrested him at gunpoint in front of his family. This happened after he protected his young son from an angry abortion escort. 

With the help of 40 Days for Life Institute of Law & Justice, Mark challenged the actions taken by the DOJ under the Biden administration.

CARNEY: “Be not afraid. Go out. Peacefully pray to end abortion. This is a huge victory for free speech. It's a huge victory for all Americans who want our right to speak our minds peacefully in a law abiding way, without fear of our own government.”

The early church prayed in Acts 4:29, “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word.”

Alabama public school students allowed religious education

Alabama recently authorized public school students to receive religious instruction during school hours. 

Republican Governor Kay Ivey signed the Alabama Released Time Credit Act into law last Wednesday. 

Alliance Defending Freedom commented, “Parents have the right and responsibility to guide the upbringing and education of their children. … [The law] respects parents’ educational decisions, allowing public school children to be briefly excused from school to receive free, off-campus religious instruction taught by private charitable organizations.”

2 million new Americans engaged with Bible

The American Bible Society released the first chapter of its 16th annual State of the Bible report last week.

The report documented the rise of people who are curious about the Bible, known as the “Movable Middle.” They now account for 28 percent of the population, an increase of nine million people since 2024. 

This segment of the population appears to have primarily come from those who were formerly disengaged with Scripture. And the disengaged have shrunk by five million adults over the last two years. 

Christian astronaut glorifies God upon Artemis II re-entry

Artemis II splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California last Friday.

The four NASA astronauts on board completed a 10-day mission, flying around the moon and back to earth. Forty-nine-year-old Victor Glover was one of the astronauts on board. He gave glory to God after the successful mission.

Because even bigger than my challenge of trying to describe what we went through -- the gratitude of seeing what we saw, doing what we did, and being with who I was with -- it's too big to just be in just one body.”

And finally, on a personal note, I just came from having seen the Christian film A Great Awakening which documents the unique relationship between Benjamin Franklin, a deist, and English preacher George Whitefield. I was deeply moved by the film, and cried at a number of places.

Actor John Cleese speaks up against Nigerian Christian genocide

TruthNigeria’s verified civilian deaths for Easter weekend stands at 55 people — a terrible tragedy for the nation.

Nigeria remains, by far, the most deadly nation in the world for those who have received the Christian faith.

John Cleese, the well-known “Monty Python" comic actor, expressed concern about the massacres of Christians in Nigeria.  On the X platform, he wrote, “It looks rather as though Black Lives Don’t Matter.” Writing about [the Nigerian massacres], he said, “Could damage the image of the murderers who killed these poor people.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán defeated

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán suffered a massive defeat in the elections on Sunday night.

Orbán lost to opposition candidate Péter Magyar by a vote of 53% to 39%. Magyar’s party, the Respect and Freedom Party, is also on track to gain a supermajority in the Hungarian Parliament.  Magyar broke from Orban’s party after multiple scandals surfaced, one of which involved a coverup for a pedophile.

Daniel 2:21 speaks of the sovereignty of God over the nations. It says, “And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

United State to block Strait of Hormuz

The United States is set to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, reports NBC News.

This comes as an unsteady ceasefire has settled over the region and oil prices continue to rise. 

President Donald Trump told Fox News that the blockade would not affect talks with Iran.

TRUMP: “They haven't left the bargaining table. I predict they come back and they give us everything we want. And I told my people, ‘I want everything. I don't want 90% I don't want 95%.’ I told them, ‘I want everything.’”

Vice President Vance: Iran better not build a nuclear weapon

Vice President J.D. Vance, who recently returned from peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to making sure Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon.

VANCE: “The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon.”

60% of Americans view Israel unfavorably now

A recent Pew Research survey found that the percentage of Americans viewing Israel unfavorably has increased from 42% in 2022 to 60% most recently.  And that represents a 6% uptick from last year’s survey.

Now, 41% of Republicans and 80% of Democrats view Israel unfavorably. And 70% of U.S. adults under age 50 have an unfavorable view of Israel as well, according to the survey.

This may be due in part to the shrinkage of the white Evangelical base in America — dropping off from 23% to roughly 14% of the population since the year 2000. 

California gubernatorial candidate ends campaign over sexual misconduct

California gubernatorial candidate Eric Swalwell terminated his campaign after being accused of sexual misconduct by several women, reports The Western Journal.

Swalwell, who currently serves in the US House of Representatives, was pressured by fellow Democrats to leave the race, and also saw his own staffers quit. 

On X, Swalwell posted, “To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.” 

He also said this in a video.

SWALWELL: “I do not suggest to you in any way that I'm perfect or that I'm a saint. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife. And to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this position. I also apologize to you if in any way you have doubted your support for me, but I think you know who I am.”

However, last night, the alleged reprobate announced plans to resign from Congress altogether. 

In related news, liberal Republican Congressman Tony Gonzales of Texas, who sexually harassed at least two of his staffers, also announced he will resign, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

America’s housing market in trouble

The U.S. housing market suffered a bad month-on-month drop in sales of existing homes in March.  

This marks the longest bad run on housing sales in at least 25 years, going on four years now.

Americans spend 50% more time on phones today than 2022

Consumer Affairs reports that the average American checks their phones 205 times a day.

They are on their phones for four hours and 30 minutes a day, up 50% since 2022.

And this is new. Consumers are now using the Pet Phone to stay in touch with their pets, mind you, throughout the day, complete with two-way video calling and an Artificial Intelligence motion detector that gets the pet in touch with his owner.

And finally, George Whitefield set America aflame with righteousness in the 1740s. Charles Spurgeon wrote that “Whitefield stands unrivalled among preachers of the Gospel.  … No other man seems to have wielded such a mighty influence over so many hearts.”

Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones called him “the greatest English preacher of all time.”

These were days of Acts 4:31: “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

Impressively, it has a 97% audience approval rating and a 69% approval rating from the Rotten Tomatoes Tomato-meter.

Pakistani Muslim threatened to kill Christian woman for not converting

On Easter Sunday, in Muslim-majority Pakistan, police arrested a Muslim man accused of threatening to kill a Christian woman if she refused to convert to Islam and marry him, reports Morning Star News.

Imran Masih in the Sahiwal District, said his 20-year-old niece, Laiba Javed, received a handwritten note from Rehman Irfan on April 2nd demanding that she convert to Islam and marry him by April 15th. In the note, Irfan warned that he would have her killed if she refused.

Laiba, who works in Lahore, had returned to her ancestral village to celebrate Easter with relatives when she received the note.

Masih said, “Irfan, [the Muslim man] who is a former schoolmate of Laiba, came to our house with two armed accomplices when she was alone. He handed her a letter at gunpoint stating that he loved her and would go to any extent to marry her after converting her.”  Not exactly the typical romantic gesture.

Laiba immediately informed her family, who approached police. They booked him for issuing threats.

Not surprisingly, she has since left the village due to safety concerns, though they remain worried about her security.

According to a study by the Lahore-based Center for Social Justice, 515 cases of abduction and forced conversion involving minority women and girls were reported between 2021 and 2025. Hindu girls accounted for 69 percent or 353 cases, followed by Christian girls at 31 percent or 160 cases, while two cases involved Sikh victims.

Additionally, more than half of the victims were between 14 and 18 years old, and about 20 percent were under 14. Religiously speaking, 96% of the Pakistani population is Muslim.

Open Doors has documented that Pakistan is the eighth most oppressive country worldwide for Christians.

Hegseth: “Iran begged for this ceasefire”

On April 8th, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Operation Epic Fury was a resounding success.

HEGSETH: “Iran begged for this ceasefire, and we all know it. As the president 'truthed' this morning, ‘A big day for world peace.’

“Iran wants it to happen. They've had enough. Operation: Epic Fury was a historic and overwhelming victory on the battlefield, a capital ‘V’ military victory.”

Iran peace talks underway as Vance arrives in Pakistan

President Donald Trump said that talks with Iran have begun, adding that global oil shipping is finding alternatives to the Strait of Hormuz, reports NewsNation.com.

Trump predicted the strait would reopen in the “not too distant future.” He warned that if negotiations do not go well, the U.S. is prepared to “reset,” saying, “We’re ready to go.”

The negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan, on ending the six-week conflict are the first face-to-face talks between the two nations since 1979.

Vice President J.D. Vance is leading the U.S. delegation, which also includes special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff; Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner; and deputy national security adviser Dr. Andy Baker.

Franklin Graham compares Trump to Biblical Esther

On Good Friday, Rev. Franklin Graham prayed a powerful prayer at the White House as President Donald Trump stood behind him.

GRAHAM: “Father, You tell us in the book of Esther that the Persians, the Iranians, were wanting to kill every Jew -- woman, child -- and do it all in one day. But You raised up Esther to save the Jewish people, Father, we thank you.

“Today, the Iranians, the wicked regime of this government, wants to kill every Jew and destroy them with an atomic fire. But You have raised up President Trump. You've raised him up for such a time as this. And Father, we pray that You'll give him victory.”

In Esther 4:14, Esther’s guardian Mordecai, concerned about the fate of the Jews in light of Haman’s threats, said, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Franklin Graham concluded his prayer at the White House with these words.

GRAHAM: “Father, we pray for our military that you'd watch over and protect them. Father, we pray for the people of Iran who want freedom to be set free from these Islamic lunatics.

“Father, we thank you for Your Son, Jesus Christ, who came to this earth to take our sins, that He died and shed His blood on a cross for our sins, that He was buried. He took our sins to the grave, but You raised Him to life. Father, we thank You and we praise You, and we give You the glory. Father, protect President Trump. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Public school fully embraces Muslim Holidays, calls Easter ‘Spring break’

John Overton High School, a taxpayer-funded public school in Nashville, Tennessee, has drawn national outrage after the Nashville Banner newspaper published a feature story celebrating the school’s decision to fully embrace the Islamic holidays. 

Not only does the school provide a food-free zone during lunchtime for Muslim students who are fasting during Ramadan, but the Muslim kids have reserved space on campus to pray.  

In addition, Muslim students are also provided electronic hall passes so they can leave class for 15 minutes to pray, and teachers decorate their rooms with Muslim holiday decor.  For example, there’s a map of Kurdistan above one teacher’s desk and a box of prayer mats in the corner that students often borrow to pray at school. 

Plus, Overton High School’s cafeteria was decorated with gold and blue stars, moons, lanterns, and string lights, proclaiming, “Ramadan Mubarak” which means “Blessed Ramadan.”

At least two Tennessee congressmen are disturbed by the school’s coziness with the Islamic holidays. On the X platform, Republican Congressman Andy Ogles  wrote, “Meanwhile, Christians have seen every trace of their religion erased from American education.”

And Republican Congressman John Rose, who is running for the Republican nomination to be governor, said “Political correctness has overtaken common sense.” He noted that the school district merely referred to the Christian holy day of Good Friday as “Spring Holiday” on its official calendar.

Christian talk show host Todd Starnes asked, “I wonder if Overton High School celebrates the Jewish and Christian faiths with as much gusto as they do the Muslim faith? Do they erect a Nativity in the cafeteria during the 12 days of Christmas? Is there a banner proclaiming that Jesus is the reason for the season? I reached out to the school to find out if classrooms and hallways are decorated to celebrate the Christian holidays, but so far, there’s been no response.”

Starnes concluded, “And what’s especially peculiar is the silence from atheist groups like the Freedom From Religion Foundation and anti-Christian hate groups like the ACLU and Americans United For the Separation of Church and State. That crowd gets triggered by teachers handing out candy canes. But there’s not been a word of condemnation about a public school being turned into a taxpayer-funded mosque.”

In Exodus 20:3, God commanded, “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Maunday Thursday Massacre: Muslims killed 43 Christians in Congo

On April 2nd, the Islamic Allied Democratic Forces killed dozens of Christians in Mambasa Territory located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, reports International Christian Concern.

The attack in the African nation occurred on Maundy Thursday, a day during Holy Week when Christians remember the Last Supper.

A religious freedom advocate, who wanted to remain anonymous for safety purposes, said, “The initial death toll of 43 may rise further; some victims were burned inside their homes, and others are still in the bush. The attackers surprised the population in their sleep. The victims were killed by gunfire, and several were beheaded with machetes. The images are unbearable.”

In Revelation 6:9-10, “When [Jesus] opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the Word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, ‘How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until You judge the inhabitants of the Earth and avenge our blood?’”

White House envoy to Netanyahu: Stop bombing Lebanon

Iran's new Supreme Leader issued a chilling message after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scolded by U.S. President Donald Trump for nearly jeopardizing the shaky ceasefire.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Netanyahu held a phone call between President Trump and White House envoy Steve Witkoff, according to Axios.

Witkoff reportedly told Netanyahu to “calm down” the strikes in Lebanon and open peace negotiations.

Amid Trump’s two-week ceasefire with Iran, Israel has continued to bombard urban population centers in Lebanon, including Beirut, killing and injuring civilians.

Trump's request came as the United States prepares to meet with Iranian leaders in Pakistan to negotiate an end to the war.

Iran claims Lebanon was part of the ceasefire deal with the U.S. and is now threatening to abandon peace talks and keep the Strait of Hormuz closed unless Israel stops attacking its proxy, Hezbollah, in the region.

However, U.S. and Israeli diplomats deny that the ceasefire with the Iranian Islamic regime applies to Netanyahu's ground offensive against Lebanon.

New evidence reveals deep pro-abortion bias at Biden’s DOJ

A nearly 60-page report from the Trump Department of Justice contains “evidence of collusion and unethical behavior” between the Biden-era DOJ and pro-abortion entities, including the National Abortion Federation, reports LifeSiteNews.com.

According to MS Now, formerly known as MSNBC, the draft says, “Upon assuming office, the Biden DOJ shattered the public’s trust by weaponizing the [Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act of 1994] to advance a pro-abortion agenda, and the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division was at the forefront of this weaponization.”

Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, who has seen the evidence on which the report was based, spoke to LifeSiteNews after the leak of the document.

Terry told LifeSite that he and Terrisa Bukovinac, founder of Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, were granted access to the unredacted records on March 4, 2026. Bukovinac and Terry met with Trump’s DOJ officials in Washington, D.C., because the documents reference Terry by name and Bukovinac’s organization.

Terry said the report contains clear evidence of unethical coordination between Biden lead prosecutor Sanjay Patel and pro-abortion groups, including the National Abortion Federation. At the same time, 70 attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers went largely uninvestigated and unprosecuted in the months after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

'Gas & Glory': Tenn church gives hundreds of commuters free gas

And finally, amid rapidly escalating gas prices worldwide, a Tennessee church recently pumped out free gasoline for hundreds of commuters, reports The Christian Post.

Overcoming Believers Church of Knoxville, which has a membership of 1,500 people, held its “Gas & Glory” event on Saturday at a local Thumbs Up Exxon station.

They blessed 400 drivers with $20 worth of free gas. Additionally, volunteers provided free T-shirts, candy for children, and invited drivers to join them for worship on Easter Sunday.

Karen Swint, a spokeswoman for the church, said, “People need to see us be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us to ‘Go and make disciples.’ I truly believe this is the best way to do [it]. We are to be doers of the Word, not only hearers or speakers.”

James 1:22 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

The “Gas & Glory” event comes at a time when gas prices worldwide have been sharply increasing amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel, rising above $4.00 a gallon in the U.S.

Nicaragua officials violated religious freedom 309 times in 2025

Last year, the government of Nicaragua imposed increasing restrictions on religious leaders. This is according to a new report from Christian Solidarity Worldwide. 

The report documented 309 violations of freedom of religion or belief in 2025. That’s up from 222 cases in 2024. Over 100 of the cases last year involved Protestant Christians. 

Anna Lee Stangl with Christian Solidarity Worldwide said, “While in some ways the regime has changed its strategies – releasing political prisoners into house arrest as opposed to forcing them into exile, for example – its primary goal remains the same: to control, co-opt or eliminate anyone it deems a threat to its authority and survival.”

But, in Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.”

Cuba pardoned 2,000 prisoners before Easter

The government of Cuba announced pardons for over 2,000 prisoners last week ahead of Resurrection Sunday. 

Those released included young people, women, and people over the age of 60. The pardons follow significant pressure from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

This marks the fifth prisoner release by Cuba’s communist regime since 2011. The pardons have benefited over 10,000 people, including political prisoners and pastors. 

Mexico’s “Day of the Unborn Girl and Boy”

The Mexican state of Aguascalientes  designated March 25 as the “Day of the Unborn Girl and Boy.”

The central state is the first state in the country to establish such a day for promoting pro-family policies. 

At the federal level, Mexico has decriminalized the killing of unborn babies.  Some states have moved to protect babies while others support abortion. 

Texas court greenlights Christian evangelism near mosque

In the United States, a Texas court recently allowed Christians to continue evangelizing near a mosque.

The East Plano Islamic Center filed a lawsuit last October to silence Christians who were sharing their faith on public property nearby. However, the state court dismissed the lawsuit last month.

The law firm representing the Christians stated, “This lawsuit was an extraordinary demand … to ban missionaries from peacefully … preaching the Gospel. We are grateful that the Court recognized that such demands are a serious challenge to our country’s core values of free speech and freedom of religion.”

Regular church attenders most likely to be generous

Charitable giving among evangelical Protestants is stabilizing according to a new report from Infinity Concepts.

The report found 62 percent of Evangelicals gave to church last year. That’s down from 74 percent in 2020 but slightly up from 61 percent in 2024.

In terms of church attendance, those who attend weekly were the most likely to give to church.

2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Stock market up and oil prices down

The U.S. stock market surged and oil prices fell yesterday. This came after President Trump announced a ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday. 

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq stock market indexes were up by over two percent.

And the price of U.S. crude oil dropped by over 15% to about $95 per barrel. That’s down from $117 on Tuesday. Still, oil prices are up 65 percent compared to the start of the year. 

“A Great Awakening” Christian film in theaters thru April 16

And finally, the movie “A Great Awakening” opened in theaters on Good Friday. The historical Christian film hit number six at the box office.

Sight & Sound Films released the movie in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. The movie is based on the true story of the unlikely friendship between Reverend George Whitefield and founding father Benjamin Franklin.

Whitefield’s voice was so clear and robust that he was able to speak to thousands without amplification.  Franklin was a doubter.

FRANKLIN: “I am doubting Whitefield's claim that he can be heard and understood by so many. Without evidence, I won't believe it.”

WHITEFIELD: “Let us proclaim freedom to the captives. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”

Hindu nationalists attacked two pastors in India

Hindu nationalists attacked two pastors in India last week ahead of Resurrection Sunday.

The pastors were distributing Christian literature in a village in Karnataka State. The Hindu nationalists verbally abused the pastors before physically assaulting them and taking their literature. 

One of the pastors, aged 60, required emergency medical care after the attack. He told International Christian Concern, “We would have been killed if police had not intervened in time. The police eventually arrived at the scene, rescued us, and took us to the hospital for treatment.”

India’s new census

In other India-related news, the country began the world’s largest census last week.

The year-long census will collect information from the country’s 1.4 billion citizens. India conducted its last census back in 2011. Since then, the country surpassed China as the world’s most populated nation. 

For the first time in decades, India’s census will ask people what caste they belong to. The census already includes questions about religion. Religious freedom groups warn the government could use these data points to discriminate against religious minorities like Christians. 

55% of Russians do not attend church

The Russian research organization Levada Centre published a new survey on church attendance in the country. 

A record 55% of respondents said they do not attend religious services. That’s up 11 percentage points since last year.  The lack of church attendance was particularly common among men, young people, and students.

Only 16% of respondents said they attend services at least once a month. 

Trump announced 2-week suspension of Iran attack

At 5:32pm ET on April 7th, President Donald Trump shared a major update on Truth Social about the war with Iran.

He wrote, “Based on conversations with [Pakistani] Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and [Pakistani] Field Marshal Asim Munir and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.

“This will be a double-sided CEASEFIRE!  The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive agreement concerning long-term PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.”

President Trump concluded with these words. “On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the countries of the Middle East, it is an honor to have this long-term problem close to resolution.”

Vice President Vance: “Very shortly, this war is going to conclude”

Vice President J.D. Vance, who was meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Hungary, said the war in Iran is coming to an end soon, reports Real Clear Politics.

VANCE: “First of all, the United States has largely accomplished its military objectives. There are still some things that we'd like to do, for example, on Iranian ability to manufacture weapons that we'd like to do a little bit more work on militarily. But fundamentally, the military objectives of the United States have been completed.

“So, that means, as the President has said, very shortly, this war is going to conclude. And I think the nature of the conclusion is ultimately up to the Iranians.

“I think there really are two pathways. I'm oversimplifying this a little bit, but I think pathway one is where the Iranians decide they're going to be a normal country. They're not going to fund terrorism anymore. They're going to be part of the world system of commerce and exchange, and that's going to mean much better things for them economically. It's going to mean better things for the peace and safety of the world. That's option A. Okay?

“Option B is that the Iranians don't come to [the] table and they stay committed to terrorism, to terrorizing their neighbors, not just Israel, but of course, their Arab neighbors too. Then, the economic situation in Iran is going to continue to be very, very bad, and frankly, it will probably get worse.”

California dropped prosecution of undercover pro-life videographer

In the United States, California finally dropped its prosecution of pro-lifer David Daleiden.

The undercover journalist is the president and founder of The Center for Medical Progress. In 2015, the group exposed Planned Parenthood’s illegal sale of baby body parts. 

Daleiden faced years of legal battles since then. He posted a statement on X last week, saying, “As promised, the final charge has been DISMISSED and the case completely expunged.”

Court: California must pay $4.5 million over gender confusion case

In other Golden State news, California must pay $4.5 million in a case involving its promotion of gender confusion in public schools.

The state passed a law in 2024 that prohibited schools from informing parents if their child identified with a sexually perverted lifestyle. 

On Monday, a U.S. District Court ruled in favor of teachers and parents who challenged the law.

Peter Breen with the Thomas More Society commented on the victory. He said, “California threw everything it had at this case. 29% of Americans believe revival will happen within the year

A new survey from the Barna Group found a growing share of Americans believe a spiritual revival is coming.

Twenty-nine percent of U.S. adults believe a revival is likely to happen in the next 12 months. That number rose to 38 percent among Gen Z, those between the ages of 14 and 29. 

Top reasons respondents gave for why a revival might happen included prayer, younger generations turning to God, and the search for meaning and purpose. 

David Kinnaman, CEO of Barna, said, “The research doesn’t predict a revival. … Yet, it reveals something worth paying attention to: a large number of Americans believe one is possible—and for younger adults especially, that belief is being forged in some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.”

Trump called Christ’s resurrection “the most glorious miracle in all of time!”

And finally, President Donald Trump delivered a message to Christians around the world over Easter weekend. In fact, he quoted John 3:16 in his message.

TRUMP: “This Holy Week, I'm proud to join with Christians across the country, and around the world, to celebrate the most glorious miracle in all of time: the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“In His life, Christ displayed true humility. In His death, He modeled true love. And in His resurrection from the tomb, He proved that even death itself will not silence those who place their trust in Almighty God. As it says in Gospel of John, ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son for whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

Easter massacre in Nigeria

Easter weekend was one long, bloody massacre for Christians in Nigeria, reports TruthNigeria.com.

Heavily armed Fulani Muslim insurgents burned down three Christian communities in Nasarawa State. Sadly, the Nigerian government offered no protections for the Christians. 

The Muslim Fulani tore through the Benue State chanting “Allahu Akbar,” burning houses and killing 17 residents there.  Again, witnesses say the government offered no protection. On Sunday, 15 more Christian worshipers were killed in the Southern Kaduna State.

Please, pray for the heavily oppressed Nigerian Christians. 

Will Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán win re-election?

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán may be on his way out.

The Prime Minister, who is a close friend to the Trump administration, and has held power for 16 years, is slumping in the polls. Opposition candidate Peter Magyar is garnering support among young Hungarians, and some polls have his Tisza Party at 50% support. Viktor Orbán has been known as a fierce nationalist over the years.

The elections will take place this Friday.  

Hungary drops in Freedom Index

Since Orban’s election to office in 2010, Hungary’s rating on the Heritage Foundation Freedom Index has witnessed a 7% drop. Plus, The Freedom House index registers a 30% loss in freedom for Hungary since 2010.

Freedom of the press has also lost ground. Reporters Without Borders puts Hunrgry at the 68th place in the world, down from 23rd place in 2010.

During the COVID years, spreading “false information” about the pandemic was made a crime, punishable by five years in prison. State control of private property increased during Orban’s administration from 11% to 16.5% of the Gross Domestic Product which is the total monetary value of all goods and services produced within the country's borders in a year.

And homeschooling is practically banned in Hungary.

Orban’s government has held the ground on pro-family issues relating to abortion and LGBTQ sexual perversion indoctrination in schools.  

Pew Research reports that Hungary is in religious decline. Orban’s efforts to raise the birth rate have largely failed, with the 2025 birth rate dropping to 1.31. Only 17% of Hungarians attend religious services weekly or monthly, and only 16% of the population say they pray daily. That compares to 29% for the region of Eastern Europe. 

King Charles ignores Easter and celebrates Ramadan

The English monarch, King Charles III, broke tradition this year and neglected to include a message to Christians on the day that many churches celebrate the Resurrection of Christ.

Instead, on the Royal Family’s account, he opted to celebrate the Islamic holiday, Ramadan. King Charles wrote, "Wishing all Muslims in the U.K., the Commonwealth and around the world, a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.”

President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi

President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi on April 2nd, reported NBC News. He has temporarily appointed Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to the position. 

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump wrote that Bondi “will be transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”

Bondi, a Trump loyalist, had taken heat for her handling of the Epstein Files. That’s the second of five female cabinet members to be removed in the last two months, following the dismissal of Kristi Noem as Department of Homeland Security Secretary.

Senator Rand Paul flirting with presidential run

Appearing on CBS’ Sunday Morning, Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul is floating a potential presidential bid in 2028. 

PAUL: “There used to really be a free market/libertarian wing of the party. And now there's not much left. In fact, on many days, it's me in the Senate, the only one left for free trade.

“But I think there still is a desire among business for it, and it may make the so-called libertarian vote, which might not be big enough to ever win anything, if you combine that with the Chamber of Commerce and the traditional business community, that doesn't like protectionism, there may be a force out there for a different direction from the party, other than being continued to be led by populism.”

REPORTER: “There was recently a headline in the Washington Examiner: ‘Rand Paul sounds like he's running for president.’”

PAUL: “Yeah, I don't know yet. So, maybe they know something. I don't know. We're thinking about it, and I would say 50/50. We'll make a decision after the election.”

Rand Paul has served in the Senate since 2011, and has recently battled President Donald Trump on certain issues. 

U.S. national debt soared to $39 trillion

The national debt continues to spike, sitting at well over $39 trillion. 

President Trump has officially requested a raise in the Pentagon budget to $1.5 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year budget, up from $1 trillion this year.

Artemis II surpasses human travel record

Artemis II continues its voyage on the first manned space flight beyond Earth’s orbit.

As of yesterday, the craft has surpassed the previous record of human travel in distance away from the Earth, set by Apollo 13. The crew reached 252,760 miles from Earth, surpassing the record by over 4,000 miles.

Artemis surveyed the dark side of the moon Monday afternoon, and should be on its way home today.   Captain Victor Glover of the Artemis II mission sent a special message from space on Easter Sunday, referencing the Bible and acknowledged the beauty of creation.

“You guys are talking to us because we're in a spaceship really far from Earth.  But you're on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live in the universe, in the cosmos. Maybe the distance we are from you makes you think what we're doing is special, but we're the same distance from you.

“And I'm trying to tell you, just trust me, you are special. In all of this emptiness --- this is a whole bunch of nothing, this thing we call the universe -- you have this oasis, this beautiful place that we get to exist together.”

Second U.S. airman rescued in Iran proclaims, “God is good!”

The lost airman was recognized by his squadron by a cryptic message that came across in three words: "God is good!”

He was known by his buddies as a "religious man” and this message confirmed his whereabouts.

Though injured, he climbed a 7,000-foot mountain ridgeline, hid in a crevice, and waited for the rescue. Thankfully, nobody was injured in this in-and-out operation, conducted by the United State Central Intelligence Agency.

Psalm 141:8 says, “But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute.”
