Why Nigeria tops list of 2023 Worst Persecutors

Appearing on Washington Watch, the Family Research Council radio show, Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern, explained that Nigeria, Africa now tops the list of the 2023 Worst Persecutors of countries worldwide, edging out North Korea.

KING: “Well, North Korea can always be number one or two on the list. We wanted to move Nigeria to the top.

“If you look at the last 20 years, imagine up to 100,000 Christians killed, 3.5 million farmers pushed off their lands their land stolen. And this is all from radical Islamists. The mindbender in all this is that, year after year, they come to Washington and they say, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is such a hard problem to tackle. We're doing our best. Maybe if you sent more money or arms, we could do a better job.’

“To scale these numbers up to the United States, imagine if in the last 20 years, 400,000 Christians had been murdered, and 18 million people kicked out of their homes and the government never does anything. The reason is because the Islamists are embedded in the government and they control the security organs of the state -- that's Intel, that's police, army, etc. So, Washington, I think, is slowly waking up to this and saying this is actually a religious conflict. They didn't actually even see that before.”

Pro-Hamas mob shuts down NYC’s Grand Central Station

Christian talk show host Todd Starnes reports that New York City’s Grand Central Terminal was shut down on Saturday after thousands of pro-Hamas demonstrators, wearing headscarves, stormed the historic building.

PROTESTORS: (yelling) “Shut it down. Shut it down.”

NEW YORK POLICE: “This is the New York City Police Department. You are unlawfully obstructing pedestrian traffic. You are ordered to disperse now to allow the safe flow of pedestrian traffic. If you do so voluntarily, no charges will be placed against you. If you refuse to disperse, you will be placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct.”

Viral News NYC tweeted, “Pro-Hamas and pro-Palestinians rioters break windows, spit, and kick cops.”

Elsewhere in New York City, violent demonstrators clashed with Jews in Times Square and Columbus Circle outside Central Park. An Israeli flag was set on fire and fake blood was thrown on the front doors of The New York Times.

The Netherlands: Abortions up almost 15% in 2022

According to the Dutch Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate, the number of abortions in the Netherlands increased by almost 15% last year, reports Evangelical Focus.

The rise in mothers between 25 and 35 years of age who kill their unborn babies was up by 23%. And 13% more teenage mothers chose to abort their children.

Proverbs 24:11 says, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”

DeSantis remains number one challenger to Trump

According to a RealClearPolitics.com average of polls of Republican presidential contenders between October 17th and November 5th, Donald Trump polled at 58.5% among likely GOP voters.  Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came in at 14.4%, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 9%, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 4.7%.

Last Wednesday in Miami, NBC hosted the third Republican presidential debate which Trump chose not to attend.  DeSantis, who has been endorsed by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, spoke decisively on key issues like Bidenomics.

Ugandan Muslim husband sets Christian wife on fire

A 32-year-old mother of three children in the town of Budaka, Uganda, named Hajara Namwase, accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior on May 3rd, while her Muslim husband was away on business in South Sudan.

When Hajara returned home from her Christian small group meeting on October 17th, she found her husband looking through some of her belongings. She said, “I got scared upon seeing him, because he had some Gospel tracts and a small New Testament Bible which I could not hide.”

Upon seeing the Bible and other Christian literature, her 42-year-old husband, Musa Kalele, became furious, left the room, and returned with a container of gas. She said, “He took some bedsheets, covered them around my body and then removed me out of the house. He forced me to lie down. He took the petrol, then poured it on me and thereafter took a matchbox, lit it, and the fire began burning me up.”

Her daughter alerted neighbors who rescued her and took her to the Mbale Regional Hospital.  Hajara has had specialized treatment for the third-degree burns over much of her body, reports Morning Star News.

Proverbs 29:22 says, "A man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression."

For the moment, her hate-filled husband has fled to South Sudan. In the meantime, Hajara is worried about where she will live after her release from the hospital since all her relatives are Muslims. Plus, she fears what will become of her children, ages 4, 6 and 9, who have come under the care of their paternal grandmother.

Please pray for Hajara’s healing, for the repentance and salvation of her Muslim husband, Musa, and for the safety of her three children.

NBC’s Lester Holt asked identical question of DeSantis as Brent Bozel

Ahead of the Wednesday night GOP Presidential debate in Miami, the Media Research Center published a video on Monday of Brent Bozell’s exclusive interview with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

BOZELL: “If [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu picked up the phone and called you, as soon as we're done here, and said, ‘Governor DeSantis, what should I do?’ What would you tell him?”

DESANTIS: “I would tell him, ‘You have to finally end Hamas once and for all. And that means taking out all their terrorist infrastructure, eradicating the group from existence. Because all that will happen if you just do some glancing blows, they will regroup, they will do the same attacks again, and we're going to have another cycle of this. So, now is the time to cut out the cancer and get the job done.”

Interestingly, just two days later, NBC’s Lester Holt asked DeSantis the identical question on Wednesday night before a national audience.

HOLT: “As President of the United States, what would you be urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to do at this moment, Governor DeSantis?”

Vivek Ramaswamy asked GOP Chair Ronna McDaniel to resign

Vivek Ramaswamy, the multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and first-time candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, demanded that Ronna McDaniel, the GOP chairwoman, resign during Wednesday night’s debate, reports Fox News.

He was especially frustrated by the election losses just the night before, on November 7th, when Republicans in Virginia lost the House, the Republican candidate for Kentucky governor lost, and Issue 1 in Ohio enshrined abortion into the Buckeye state’s constitution.

RAMASWAMY:  “I am upset about what happened last night. We’ve become a party of losers, at the end of the day. There’s a cancer in the Republican establishment. Let’s speak the truth. I mean, since Ronna McDaniel took over as chairwoman of the RNC in 2017, we have lost 2018, 2020, 2022. No red wave that never came. We got trounced last night in 2023.

Pakistan detaining refugees from Afghanistan

Pakistan is detaining refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan in preparation for deportation.

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021, there are now an estimated 1.7 million undocumented Afghans in Pakistan.

International Christian Concern notes, “A significant number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan face severe persecution if forced to return. Many are Christians or members of other religious minority groups and fled the Taliban’s fundamentalist Islamic rule in 2021.”

Pakistan’s forced deportations will likely affect refugees from Iran and Myanmar as well, where Christians face high levels of persecution. Pakistan is no friend to Christianity either, ranking 7th on the Open Doors’ World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. 

European countries cracking down on illegal immigration

Speaking of deportations, Nordic countries are stepping up cooperation to stem illegal immigration.

Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland agreed to set up joint flights to send migrants to a third country. The move comes as Nordic countries seek to cut refugee quotas and crack down on gang violence blamed on “irresponsible immigration policy and a failed integration.”

Similarly, Germany is looking to reduce immigration and make deportations easier. In a change of policy for the country, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, “We must finally deport on a large scale those who have no right to stay in Germany.”

Christian wedding photographer free to decline homosexual faux weddings

In the United States, a Christian wedding photographer is free to run his business in line with his beliefs after a court settlement last Friday.

Alliance Defending Freedom represented Bob Updegrove in a case against a Virginia law. The law required him to celebrate homosexual ceremonies or face a fine of up to $50,000.

Updegrove’s victory builds on a previous religious liberty case in Colorado known as 303 Creative that went before the U.S. Supreme Court. 

ADF Legal Counsel Johannes Widmalm-Delphonse said, “As the Supreme Court recently affirmed in 303 Creative, the government can’t force Americans to say things they don’t believe. This victory for Bob underscores how the 303 Creative decision will protect countless Americans from government censorship and coercion.”

Senator Tuberville to Pentagon: Stop paying for abortion travel

Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama is taking heat from his fellow Republicans in the U.S. Senate for his protest against a Pentagon abortion policy.

After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year, the military started paying travel expenses for service members to get abortions.

In response, Tuberville put a hold on mass military promotions in the Senate. The chamber can still approve military nominations one at a time, but there are over 300 military promotions before the Senate.

Tuberville said he will continue the hold as long as the Pentagon keeps its abortion policy.

Nepalese pastor’s year-long prison sentence upheld

Last month, the Supreme Court of Nepal upheld a one-year prison sentence for a pastor. Officials charged Pastor Keshab Raj Acharya under the country’s anti-conversion law.

His wife told Christian Today the government is using the case to set an example and deter Christians in the Hindu-majority country from sharing their faith.

The anti-conversion law went into effect in 2018. Since then, Nepali Christians have faced increased persecution, including false accusations and violence.

In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus said, “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in Heaven.”

Russia withdraws from treaty

Russia formally withdrew from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe yesterday.

In response, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, known as NATO, also pulled out of the Cold War-era security pact. The treaty was meant to keep the Cold War powers from amassing troops near each other’s borders. This comes less than a week after Russia also revoked its ratification of a nuclear treaty that banned nuclear weapons tests.

This only increases the already high tensions between NATO and Russia since Russia invaded Ukraine last year.

Speaker Johnson: We need to secure American border before Ukrainian border

Speaking of Ukraine, the U.S. House of Representatives is considering linking aid to Ukraine with increased security at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Republican Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana is the new House Speaker. He told Fox News we have to secure our border first.

JOHNSON: “We can do all of these things together. But when you couple Ukraine and the border that makes sense to people because they say, ‘If we're going to protect Ukraine's border, but we have to take care of our own border first.’ And that's what we're saying. This is policy changes that are necessary.

“There's a growing consensus in the Congress, certainly amongst Republicans, but also even some across the aisle who recognize we have to change what is happening. Over 6.3 million illegal crossings since Joe Biden took office.”

The House also approved aid for Israel last week in a plan to reallocate over $14 billion away from the IRS.

Christian wins public school religious liberty case

A Christian woman who was a public school student in Chicago won a $150,000 settlement last month in a religious liberty case.

Back in February, Mariyah Green sued the Chicago Board of Education for a Quiet Time program that was implemented at her school during the 2018-2019 school year.

The program, known as Transcendental Meditation, was originally developed by a Hindu. Green said the school expected her to chant a mantra and honor Hindu deities as part of the program. 

Despite what she believed to be an attack on her faith, Green told The Christian Post she hopes God continues to use her to "spread the Gospel and also to help people.”

Texas vs. Planned Parenthood

The state of Texas is taking Planned Parenthood to court in a $1.8 billion fraud case.

Texas accuses the abortion giant of fraudulently obtaining state Medicaid funds. Texas terminated Planned Parenthood as a Medicaid provider back in 2021.

The judge in the case is U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk. He was appointed by President Donald Trump. Kacsmaryk is also the judge who ruled back in April against the FDA’s approval of the Abortion Kill Pill.  Fifty-three percent of mothers who abort their unborn babies due so chemically.

2023 Persecutors of the Year report just released

International Christian Concern has published their 2023 Persecutors of the Year report. The worst nations are Nigeria, North Korea, India, Iran, China, Pakistan, Eritrea, Algeria, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan. 

Jeff King, the ICC president, noted that he is especially concerned about India. He said that, “Mass violence in Chhattisgarh and Manipur in late 2022 and 2023 supply chilling examples of what the future could hold for India's Christian population if radical Hindu nationalism is not checked.”

Mr. King further noted that, “there are an estimated 200 to 300 million Christians who suffer persecution worldwide. I've served this targeted group for more than two decades and still wonder why there is no widespread outcry or outrage on their behalf."

Nepal’s earthquakes killed 200 people

Nepal was hit by two earthquakes, both registering 5.6 on the Richter scale, reports the Associated Press.

About 4,000 homes were damaged, and over 200 people were killed, according to our contacts in Nepal. The earthquakes centered around Jajarkot, about 250 miles Northeast of Kathmandu. 

Israel-Hamas War has led to death toll of 11,400 people

The death toll in the Israel-Hamas War initiated by Hamas, the Muslim terrorist group, on October 7th has reached 11,400—of which 10,000 have been Palestinians.

That’s about five times the number killed in the 2014 conflict. And it’s about the same number of people killed in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War as well as the same number who died in the The Yom Kippur War of 1973. The Yom Kippur War involved the Arab states of Egypt, Syria, Morocco, and Iraq against Israel. The two-week conflict ended with Israel returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt. 

Trump skips third GOP presidential debate Wednesday, Nov. 8

The next debate in the contest for the 2024 Presidential Republican nomination is scheduled for tomorrow night in Miami, Florida, reports ABC News.

The candidates scheduled to appear include New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. Former President Donald Trump is skipping out on this third debate. 

Trump still holds a commanding lead in most polls. Rasmussen has him ahead of DeSantis by 38 points, and ahead of Haley by 41 points. The Harris/X poll has the former president ahead of DeSantis by 50 points. 

Iowa Governor endorsed Ron DeSantis for President

This just in, as of yesterday. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the Republican presidential nomination, reports the Des Moines Register. It’s a key boost for the DeSantis campaign as the Iowa primaries approach this January.

Reynolds, who had been a Trump ally when he held the White House, said she appreciates the former president’s accomplishments, but believes it’s time to move on. She said, “I don't think he can win.”

DeSantis has also recently suggested Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds as a possible vice presidential pick.  

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine: Vote “No!” on pro-abortion Issue 1

Concerning the Ohio initiative, Issue 1, which would enable a constitutional amendment to institutionalize the “right to abortion” in the state—Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine and his wife, Fran, have taken to social media to oppose the measure in this upcoming election today.

Nigerian Muslims killed 17 Christians in Benue State

On Sunday, October 29th, Fulani Muslim herdsmen and other terrorists killed six Christians in Benue State, Nigeria, following the slaughter of 10 others earlier last month, reports Morning Star News.

In addition, another Christian in Benue State, 80-year-old Washima Erukaa, was killed after being kidnapped on September 23rd. A relative said, “His captors had demanded that we pay a ransom of $6,340, but we were not able to raise the money.”  So, the Muslim terrorists killed him on October 23rd.

Please pray that God would comfort the families who are grieving.

Turkey withdraws ambassador from Israel, breaks off ties

As the death toll among Palestinian civilians has soared in the war between Israel and Hamas, the Muslim terrorists, Turkish President Recep Erdoğan said Saturday that he was recalling its ambassador to Israel and breaking off contacts with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in protest at the bloodshed in Gaza, reports AFP.

The Muslim leader announced the decisions on the eve of what promises to be a difficult visit to Turkey by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Turkey, a Palestinian ally, had been mending torn relations with Israel until last month's start of the Israel-Hamas war.

Iranian Muslims recruiting suicide bombers to hit Israel

A hard-line Iranian group has been actively recruiting potential suicide bombers for operations in Israel, reports 24/7 News Around the World.

The group responsible for this recruitment drive, Hezbollah, different from the Lebanese militant group with the same name, has initiated a campaign in the southeastern Iranian city of Mashhad, a significant place in Shia Islam.

Posters featuring calls for 'martyrdom' have appeared on the streets of Mashhad, imploring residents to submit their personal details for consideration.

These posters declare, “It's time for Jihad,” as they seek people to join a “special battalion of martyr seekers for Palestine.”

Int'l House of Prayer Founder Mike Bickle accused of sexual abuse

The Roys Report revealed that Mike Bickle, founder of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri, is facing allegations of clergy sexual abuse “spanning several decades,” according to an October 28th statement from the ministry’s leaders.

Ohio Catholic churches vandalized over pro-life convictions ahead of Nov. 7th vote

Just days ahead of a statewide vote on whether to enshrine abortion into the Ohio Constitution, vandalism is reportedly on the rise against Catholic churches in the Buckeye State because of their outspokenness against the pro-abortion constitutional amendment, reports LifeSiteNews.com.

Israeli troops advance; Palestinians death toll tops 9,000

On Thursday, Israeli troops battling Hamas Muslim militants encircled Gaza City, as the Palestinian death toll rose above 9,000, reports the Associated Press. U.S. and Arab leaders raised pressure on Israel to ease its siege of Gaza and at least briefly halt its attacks in order to aid civilians.

Nearly four weeks after Hamas’ deadly rampage in Israel sparked the war, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was heading to the region for talks Friday in Israel and Jordan following President Joe Biden’s suggestion for a humanitarian “pause” in the fighting. The aim would be to let in aid for Palestinians and let out more foreign nationals and wounded. Around 800 people left over the past two days.

Israel did not immediately respond to Biden’s suggestion. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has previously ruled out a cease-fire, said Thursday: “We are advancing … Nothing will stop us.” He vowed to destroy Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip.

UK's most-read paper shows Israeli child hostages held in Gaza on front page

The Sun, the United Kingdom's most widely-read newspaper, published a cover story on Thursday depicting the names and faces of all 32 children being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, reports the Jerusalem Post.

The cover image features the faces of all 32 children arched around a black box, emblazoned on which is the text: "32 innocent children snatched by terrorists. This is why Israel must fight evil of Hamas. BRING THEM HOME."

The article was also featured prominently on the U.K. news outlet's website, which included a compilation of video footage depicting, among other things, Hamas taking hostages on October 7, scenes of Hamas's underground tunnel networks, and protests calling for the hostages to be returned home.

JK Rowling risks imprisonment over refusal to use gender identity pronouns

World-renowned author J.K. Rowling said she'd rather go to prison for two years than repeat the lie that “trans women are women,” reports The Christian Post

Rowling, a British fiction writer who gained international fame and notoriety for authoring the seven-book Harry Potter series, tweeted her reaction to a picture of a message projected on the exterior wall of a building that read: “Repeat After Us: Trans Women Are Women.”

When Rowling shared the photograph on her social media platform, she wrote one word: “No.”

Trump out of touch with pro-life Iowa caucus voters

Former President Donald Trump’s opposition to protecting preborn babies from abortion after six weeks is out of touch with the very people he will need to win in Iowa, according to a new poll.

Trump called Florida’s Heartbeat Bill a “terrible mistake” during a September 17 Meet the Press interview. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Trump’s 2024 primary opponent, signed the legislation.

Persecuted Christians in Myanmar claim war crimes

Persecuted Christians in Myanmar  filed a war crimes case against the government’s military regime last week. Five victims brought the case before a court in the Philippines, a nearby Southeast Asian nation.

The victims are from Chin State, Myanmar which is predominantly Christian.

Salai Ling is one of the complainants and is part of the Chin Human Rights Organization. He said, “We are a Christian people whose pastors are being murdered and whose churches and faith-based schools are being destroyed in a systematic campaign by junta forces. With this persecution of Myanmar’s Christians continuing, we pray that our brothers and sisters in the Philippines will hear our cry and grant us justice.”

Myanmar’s military took over the country in a coup in 2021, ruthlessly cracking down on protesters and targeting Christians. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Myanmar, ranked 14th on the Open Doors World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. 

Malawi students stood up to Planned Parenthood

Last week, Human Life International shared a story about how students in the African nation of Malawi stood up to Planned Parenthood representatives.

The incident occurred on September 29 at the Natola Secondary School in the Dowa District of Central Malawi.

A representative of the pro-life organization said, “To the surprise of everybody, the students at Natola refused the abortion promoters sent to teach them and chased them away. The teacher was sure that it was due to what he called the ‘good pro-life message’ that Human Life International has been sharing with the students.”

Students even burned a box of contraceptives left by Planned Parenthood. 

Ephesians 5:11 says, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”

Christian politician reinstated after being fired for saying pride “not a virtue”

Last Thursday, a British Christian politician received his position back after being removed for sharing his Biblical beliefs online.

Back in June, King Lawal tweeted, “Pride is a sin, not a virtue.” In response, the local Conservative Group at North Northamptonshire Unitary Council suspended him from his positions on the council.

After the council reinstated him recently, Lawal said, “What has happened to me has been appalling, but I am encouraged and grateful to the local group for reinstating me. Any Christian, especially those holding public positions, should be concerned by what has happened and anyone who cares about free speech in the UK.”

Lawal tweeted, “I just want to say thank you to the majority of people in the UK, and the rest of the world (Spain, North Ireland, USA). I’m inundated with phone calls, emails, letters, and messages of support and encouragement. It appears the multitude not only agree with what I said, but my right to say it.”

President Biden received $40,000 of laundered Chinese money

In America, the U.S. Oversight Committee released more information on President Joe Biden’s family business dealings.

Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky chairs the committee. Yesterday, he shared findings that Biden received $40,000 in laundered China money through his son Hunter.

Comer said, “In taking funds sourced to a [Chinese Communist Party]-linked company that wanted to advance China’s interests, Joe Biden exposed himself to future blackmail and put America’s interests behind his own desire for money.”

Plus, in an interview with Sean Hannity on the Fox News Channel, Comer talked about how President Biden’s brother, Jim Biden, received $600,000 fraudulently by promising that Joe could help the company in the Middle East. Jim Biden then turned around and gave $200,000 directly to his brother Joe Biden in a personal check.

International Day of Prayer for persecuted this Sunday

Persecution watchdog groups are calling on Christians around the world to pray for their suffering brothers and sisters in Christ this coming Sunday.

On Sunday November 5th, the Evangelical Alliance will host an online event for the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church. The event will include contributions from Release International, Open Doors, and Christian Solidarity Worldwide.

The World Evangelical Alliance said, “According to the World Watch List, 5,621 Christians were killed, over 2,100 churches were attacked, and more than 4,500 Christians were detained for their faith in 2022. These staggering numbers highlight the harsh reality that many believers endure daily–harassment, discrimination, wrongful imprisonment, and even death for their devotion to Christ.”

1 Corinthians 12:26-27 says, “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”

Majority of Hamas’ hostages are from Thailand

Last Wednesday, the government of Israel said over half of the estimated 220 hostages held by Hamas, the Muslim terrorist group, have foreign passports. This includes people from the U.S., Germany, Argentina, France, Russia, and the Philippines. However, the largest national group is from Thailand, numbering 54 people.

Thais are one of the largest sources of foreign labor in Israel with an estimated 30,000 in the country. Since the conflict erupted between Israel and Hamas this month, Thais accounted for the most foreign deaths and missing people.

Overall, Israel reports the initial attack by Hamas killed 1,400 people. And Hamas reports over 8,300 people have died in Gaza since Israel responded with airstrikes.

$14 billion aid bill for Israel

In the U.S., House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana brought forward a $14 billion aid package for Israel on Monday. The legislation would do this by cutting an equal amount of funding from the Internal Revenue Service.

The bill also separates funding for Israel from funding for Ukraine which the White House was seeking to combine into one package.

America’s growing economy

U.S. economic growth beat expectations over the past few months.

The Gross Domestic Product increased at an annual rate of 4.9 percent in the third quarter of 2023. That’s up from 2.1 percent GDP growth in the second quarter, and above expectations of 4.7 percent growth.

Much of the growth came from an increase in consumer spending on goods and services. It’s also the biggest Gross Domestic Product gain since the fourth quarter of 2021. However, economists are expecting growth to slow over the next quarter.

Parents lost custody of child over objection to transgender transition

Shockingly, an Indiana married couple lost custody of their child because of their Biblical stance on sex and gender.  It’s a stark contrast with the state’s commitment to providing what it calls “gender-affirming mental health care” to their son. Unbelievably, it was all done without the consent of the Christian parents.

After losing their case at the Indiana Court of Appeals, Jeremy and Mary Cox have appealed their case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In more bad news, the courts have also barred the Christian parents’ right to religious instruction in their own home. The Cox Family shared their story in a YouTube video.

MARY COX: “We are speaking out about this case now because parental rights need to be protected in Indiana. Our family should have never had to go through this. We don't want any other family in Indiana to go through it either.”

Nigerian doctor hacked to death by Muslims

Hundreds of Christians have been killed this year in Nigeria’s Nasarawa State at the hands of radical Muslims.  Morning Star News reports that the latest attack came on a medical doctor. 

Dr. Stephen Angbas, head of the Angbas Medical Clinic in the town of Lafia, was hacked to death in the afternoon of October 17th, as he was returning home from his work.  He was a member of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ.

Pray that God would comfort his family in their horrific loss.

Pro-abortion supporters pour money into Ohio

The battle of the century is lining up in Ohio — as proponents for the constitutional change legalizing abortion are buying a barrage of ads in the Buckeye State.

The Associated Press reports $29 million was raised in the last month, including $5.3 million from the Sixteen Thirty fund, compliments of a Swiss billionaire. George Soros’s organization chipped in $3.5 million, and the ACLU another $2 million.  

A recent Baldwin Wallace University survey found 58% of Ohioans support the pro-abortion measure as of a week ago. 

Proverbs 11:10-11 reminds us that “When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.  By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.”

Trump outperforms GOP presidential competitors

Despite his legal woes, Donald Trump is advancing in popularity as the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential race, according to a Des Moines Register poll conducted last week. 

Trump leads the second tier candidates by 27 percentage points, up from 23% in August. Advancing in popularity, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has now tied Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for second place at 16%.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., an independent, polling at 13%, drawing Republicans

A new USA Today poll finds Trump neck and neck with Biden, if the election were held today.

But Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is now an independent, stands at 13% support with national voters. About two-thirds of those who would vote for Kennedy say they would vote Republican if Kennedy were not in the race.

Where did all the money go?

The final reckoning is in for the U.S. government’s spending for Fiscal Year 2023.  

Half the deficit was spent on servicing the interest on the national debt!   The deficit topped out at $1.7 trillion, up 23% from the previous year.

And the U.S. Treasury paid out $879 billion servicing the debt. 

Cost of buying home 52% higher than rent

The cost of buying an average home is now 52% higher than rent. That’s the largest gap in history.

The U.S. median housing payment is hovering around 45% of the median household income. That’s the highest on record.

And, the 30-year fixed mortgage rate now stands at 7.8% -- the highest rate in 23 years.

Halloween spending skyrockets

Halloween spending in the United States is estimated at $12.2 billion -- a 15% increase over last year, and up from $8 billion in 2020.

That’s a 50% increase in just three years. 

Real cost of electric vehicles

A new study published by TexasPolicy.com found that the real cost of operating electric vehicles would equate to an EV owner paying $17.33 per gallon of gasoline. The study found that a 2021 electric vehicle “would cost $48,698 more to own over a 10-year period without $22 billion in government favors given to manufacturers and owners.”

Interestingly, environmentalists are not all that happy with electric cars either.  Earth.org reports twice the carbon emissions for the production of an electric car. The manufacturing process of an electric vehicle and its battery exceeds that of a normal car and produces at least four tons of CO2.
