Yesterday, we prayed through some of the suffering we are facing or have faced in our lives and prayed that God would give us an eternal perspective, comparing our suffering to the promised redemption that is coming–both for us and for the creation itself. Today, we see that even as we hope for that future redemption, the Spirit helps us in our weakness to trust God as He orchestrates all things for our good.

 

Today's Scripture: Romans 8:26-30 ESV

Yesterday, we read that we have been adopted as God’s own children, and no longer have a Spirit of slavery to sin. Now, to obtain the inheritance promised in Christ, we are sure to face suffering, just as He did. Today, we will compare those sufferings with the glory that is to be revealed to us and pray that God would help us to see His promise more clearly.

Yesterday, we prayed that God would empower us to “set our minds on the things of the Spirit”, and help us avoid the things of the flesh. Today we’ll dive even deeper with Paul, seeing that God’s gift of the Holy Spirit not only seals us for salvation and empowers us to walk with God, but also seals us for adoption as God’s very own children.

Yesterday, we prayed along with Paul that God would save us from our very human inclination to continually do the things that we don’t want to do, and we thanked God for the salvation He has given us in Christ. Today, we’ll take a deeper look into what it means to walk in the Spirit and avoid the things of the flesh.
