  • EP 192: Healing A Broken Heart: Christ Centered Healing of Trauma: Norm Wielsch: Part One
We have Norm Wielsch from Episode 35 back on the show this week, promoting his new book: Healing A Broken Heart: Christ Centered Healing of Trauma. Be sure to go back to listen to his story if you haven't already. He talks candidly about having PTSD as a police officer. He then was diagnosed with an incurable, debilitating neuromuscular disease, having over 25 surgeries in 10 years. He was abusing the opioids to relieve the negative emotions of PTSD. On top of that, his daughter was diagnosed with liver tumors. This placed him in a downward spiral that led him to make some very poor decisions that led to a 14 year prison sentence.
Find out how he is doing today with his health, his family, and his new career in counseling. Hear how he is now helping others to heal who are struggling with abuse, trauma, PTSD, and addictions. We had an enjoyable and encouraging conversation filled with hope! Don't miss it.
Connect with Norm and buy his new book on his website:
    https://www.christ-centeredhealing.com/
Norm Wielsch was a law enforcement officer for over 25 years. Sixteen of those as an undercover narcotic agent. He has experienced many traumatic incidents during his career. In 1998 he was diagnosed with an incurable neuro-muscular disease that caused the loss of feeling, mobility, and strength in his hands and feet. After over 30 surgeries he became addicted to opioids.
He was diagnosed with PTSD. Then his daughter was diagnosed with a serious illness with a poor prognosis. Due to his poor coping mechanisms that are against God's moral standards, Norm made a series of poor decisions that landed him in federal prison with a 14 year sentence.
It was during this most intense trial of his life, with the reality that he was going to go to prison for a long time, that he answered God's calling. Norm had been an agnostic all of his life, but he knew that God was calling him to minister to those people who were suffering from trauma, especially first responders.

While in prison, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Theology & Counseling, a Doctorate in Christian Counseling, and a California Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certificate. He is currently working at a Men's Residential Treatment facility as a Registered Alcohol and drug Counselor and Pastoral   Care Chaplain.
While in prison, Norm counseled many inmates with a variety of issues, preached God’s word in the chapel, taught Christian classes, and led bible studies.

Norm often speaks to those who are suffering from traumatic experiences  including churches and addiction ministries.

Norm has a Master's Degree in Law Enforcement Management. He achieved the rank of commander prior to his arrest and has over ten commendations for outstanding service. Norm Wielsch is an expert in law enforcement tactics including: narcotic, enforcement, addictions and influence, criminal investigations, traffic collisions, pursuit driving, high risk search warrant service, report writing, PTSD, and the police culture.

We have our friend Al Descheneau aka XtianNinja back on the podcast for the 3rd time! He is talking about his new book The Art of Digital Influence, teaching Christian content creators how to use their gifts for digital ministry.
We talked about why the people hurt by church, gamers sitting in a basement, and those who don't leave the house, will never come to your church. We need to go where they are with the Gospel, just like Jesus did!
Be sure to listen to Al's previous interviews to hear about his abuse story and how he started his ministry!

    [00:00:26] Now, here is Diana.
[00:00:33] Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. How are you doing today? It has been a crazy week. It is very hot here right now. We Phoenicians like to talk about the weather and how horrible it is in the summer. So right now we're in our tropical storm season.
[00:00:55] It's 110 here, but we have now humidity [00:01:00] about 38%, I'd say. So for us, that's very sticky and very hot. I was out in the garden at 6am doing my chores. I stopped at 8. 30 because I was getting nauseous and dizzy, uh, that is the first stage of heat exhaustion. So, I stopped my chores today. Uh, and it will 120 degrees every summer it does.
[00:01:28] That's, that's normal for us, and why do we live here and put up with that heat? Well, because the rest of the year, it's gorgeous. It's, it's 75 degrees during the winter. And so that's what we live for.

  • EP 186: How To Find The Right Treatment For Sex Addiction: Logan Hufford Part Two
Welcome back to Part Two with my guest Logan Hufford who continues his story of recovering from his sex addiction that nearly destroyed him and his marriage. He answers why his wife didn't leave him, even though she had every right to. He tells us about the different recovery groups he was a part of and which one was actually the best fit for him. What is the real secret sauce to successful recovery? How do you talk to your kids about these sex topics? He offers lots of resources your those that are struggling with sex addiction. Join us for this important conversation.
    BIO:
Logan is a born & raised Alaskan, married to his gorgeous bride Carrie, who herself is a 4th-generation Alaskan; and together they are raising 4 amazing but crazy little monkeys. Their life is a simple one - they love their family time, their dogs, and exploring the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. And yet, absolutely none of this should be possible today. For years, Logan did just about everything in his power to destroy his marriage and his life. Logan was a raging sex addict. Porn, affairs, hiring prostitutes, and more had simply become a way of life for Logan. He thought he had no hope. In 2016, God began to change all that. Through Recovery, God transformed Logan’s life and his marriage. Logan and his wife Carrie each now lead Recovery groups, doing what they can to give back by sharing the gifts that God has given.

  • EP 185: Why Getting Married Doesn’t Cure Sex Addiction: Logan Hufford: Part One
I’m Logan, and I’m no longer in bondage to sexual addiction. Being able to say those words is the 2nd biggest blessing in my life, after salvation through Jesus Christ. I spent years actively destroying my marriage, my life, and the lives of many others. I was an addict to pornography, affairs, and much more. I was, as Paul said, the chief of sinners. And I truly never envisioned a life where I wasn’t constantly mired in sexual depravity. It had become all I knew, in order to live on a daily basis. In 2016, God began to change all that. My life & my marriage now is something I literally could not have fathomed, 8 years ago. And I sincerely believe my mission on this earth is to share with others, how that happened. Because it wasn’t easy, it wasn’t quick, and I didn’t do it on my own.
Logan and his wife Carrie each now lead Recovery groups, doing what they can to give back by sharing the gifts that God has given them. Since January of 2021, Logan has been blessed to be able to use many of the tools he’s learned in Addiction Recovery, as a Dave Ramsey-endorsed personal finance coach. He’s honored to help folks find freedom & healthy living, in a different venue than just specifically recovery.

  • EP 183: Does God Still Perform Miracle Through Us? Dr. David Chotka Part One
We have Dave Chotka today, and he reached out to me, to come on the podcast and talk about, his background, his story growing up with an alcoholic father and, grandparents who were not believers. He was a pastor and, he has a wife that had MS and was healed from MS. I was interested in his story because he, took trips to Uganda to participate in these prayer services over there. Listen to his inspiring stories of hope and healing!
