From his bio: John Haas was born and raised in Montreal before moving to Calgary where he lived for twelve wonderful years. Now he lives in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, but still misses seeing those Rockies in the distance.

John has been writing for most of his life and writes in the genres of Fantasy, Horror and Science-Fiction, with the occasional Mystery thrown in. He has had several short stories published in various excellent publications, as well as several novels.

Interview with author Carolyn R Parsons, author of the The Forbidden Dreams of Betsy Elliott from Flanker Press and Desolate from Engen Books.

Carolyn R. Parsons is a Newfoundland & Labrador author with a background in freelance journalism and is the owner-operator of Cabochon Manuscript Services. She served on the board of the Writers' Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador until 2021 and is the author of six published books including The Forbidden Dreams of Betsy Elliott released by Flanker Press in 2019 and The Key of Impasto novella, a Slipstreamers book by Engen Books in 2020. In 2021 she was chosen as one of 125 authors from around the world to have her entire body of work launched to the moon on the Peregrine Mission via SpaceX and NASA as part of their lunar time capsule Writers on the Moon payload. The launch is scheduled for June 2022. She married Kent Chaffey in front of 18,000 people in the Zamboni Corner during the first intermission at a NHL hockey game in New York City in 2012 and together they have raised four children.

Interview with Michelle Churchill, author of The Last Tree

2018 has been a banner year for rising-star Churchill. Her thrilling tale Leopold’s Cherubs Princes was regarded as one of the highlights of the Chillers from the Rock collection. In the months since her first novel, a young-readers fantasy titled The Last Tree, was greenlit for publication with art by Ariel Marsh. Churchill won the August 2018 Kit Sora Flash Photography Fiction Prize for her story ‘Unicorn,’ and was featured heavily in Kit Sora: The Artobiography, a collection of art photographs and accompanying short fiction. Churchill was featured in the collection four times.

On today's episode, we talk to Dianna Brown about her book Saltwater Joys.

Dianna has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Calgary and is currently a student at St. Mary’s University, Calgary, to complete her Bachelor of Education degree in the spring of 2019. She has taken Advanced Fiction Writing courses through the University of Athabasca. She was born in Gander and raised in Kelligrews, Newfoundland. She currently resides in Calgary with her husband and two sons. She is currently writing the sequel to Saltwater Joys, as well as another literary fiction novel situated in the farthest remote community of the Canadian Arctic. She is also working on a non-fiction book with her sister, Crystal, to help families who have a child with cancer, in hopes of sharing their family’s experience to inspire and help others.
