There’s one rule I want you to follow if you ever visit an orphanage: Don’t Snuggle the Orphans. I explain why this loving act can ultimately be harmful to a child in a orphanage. The work of caring for orphans is hard and it is ultimately good, but we’ve learned better ways of helping kids while protecting them from sexual abuse. I also tell the tale of flat-earthers who have been convinced they were wrong and still believe the earth is flat.

If you’re looking for resources on moving beyond orphanages I highly recommend the Faith to Action Initiative. Children’s homes throughout the world are using their materials to improve their work.
