Back with a Solo Dance after a two week hiatus and this week we are talking albums! 

First I give an update on X You headquarters and how I finished my time in Boston with Deerock at The Grand and FISHER at Big Night Live.

I give my thoughts on Gryffin's sophomore album, 'Alive' as well as what I think of Tiesto announcing an album for 2023 that include songs from 2.5 years ago. The electronic music landscape sometimes favors single releases and EP's as opposed to albums. In this episode, I share what makes an album important and special for an artist and list off some of my all time favorites.

This week on the podcast, I welcome Linus Hoglund, also known as Hogland from his hometown studio in Stockholm, Sweden. The city of Stockholm - and the icons within the electronic music world it has produced - is evidently clear in Hogland's music. Driven by melody and emotion, one can't help but make connections to Avicii, who clearly has influenced and inspired the 25 year olds catalogue. To me, Hogland is one of few producers who is 'carrying the Avicii torch' by making high quality music that so many lovers of dance music can immediately connect to. Many people try to emulate the magic of that specific time period and genre of electronic music, but not many can do it at a high quality level. Hogland delivers on that challenge and more. 

In the episode, Linus and I chat about what it was like growing up in Stockholm as it relates to dance music. We discuss what made Avicii songs and melodies in particular special and Hogland also shares his memory of 4/20/2018 with me. Hogland goes on to tell me about his process for songwriting and melody-development, as well as his approach to songwriting. 

Speaking with Linus made me an even bigger fan of his work, as he is an incredibly down-to-earth and nice person. I highly recommend anyone to go and check out his music on all streaming platforms as well as giving him a follow on Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube

On this week's episode, I chat one of Boston's best DJs, Ryan Nichols. Ryan is a resident DJ with Big Night Entertainment and has opened for the biggest names in dance music - showcasing his encyclopedic knowledge of electronic sound and ability to set the perfect vibe for a big time concert. 

Ryan and I discuss navigating the music world as a house-focused DJ, the importance of not letting your musical-ego get in the way, song selection and structuring a set, the Boston music scene and more. 

He is truly a DJ who is up on stage working every second to provide the best atmosphere and to set the stage for an epic night. On this week's episode, I chat with Mike DiSarro, the man behind the Boston Boat Cruise Summer Series, to learn about the history of the unique concert experience and what goes into having a rave on a boat. I have preached about the Boat Cruise as one of my favorite concert experiences in not just Boston, but any venue I have been to. Mike's business mind is incredibly impressive, and it makes sense why they are able to put together such a high quality concert series. 

Mike and his team were super cool to host me on the Provincetown II right before Gorgon City delivered an incredible sunset set on a beautiful Boston summer night. The entire team were incredibly welcoming and accommodating to me and I am super grateful they took time before one of their concerts to chat on the Podcast.
