On February 11th, The Yarn’s storytellers shared their stories of how pet adoption and their furry family members changed their lives

Pet friendship is one of humanity’s oldest truths. Humans and dogs have been companions for 14,000 years and cats have accepted human companionship for at least the last 10,000 years. .

In November, the Yarn will brought together a cast to take the edge off the most stressful days of the year. While storytellers exposed their less-than-photo-worthy moments, audience members related to the cringeworthy, but side-splitting episodes that carry us all through the holidays.

Collectively, Americans travel a remarkable 182 billion miles during this season, taking to the road more than any other time throughout the year. Whether for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Bodhi Day, or Pancha Ganapati, most are en route to a common destination – the dinner table. This performance typifies a remark by Michael J. Fox, that “the oldest form of theater is the dinner table.”

Barred II was held May 16th, 2019, and closed out the 2018-19 season for the Yarn. We are reunited with decARcerate to produce a second show on true stories of incarceration.

On April 5, The Rep and The Yarn explored this question in a storytelling performance all about neighbors - what divides us and what connects us.

Join us to hear stories about funny, outrageous, sweet, or challenging neighbors, stories about someone who makes the place they live a better place to live, and more!
