Yoga can be a powerful tool for helping children and adults with special needs; but it's vital to learn what yoga professionals need to know when working with this population. Yael Sunshine joins us in the episode to share some important considerations.
Yael is Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and Special Educator (MAT/SPED) with over 15 years' experience in both fields. She has worked with toddlers to adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury and higher functioning learning differences. Yoga teachers must be prepared to make their classes accessible to all people, but those with dwarfism have considerations that you may not have thought of. In this episode, Christophe Zajac-Denek Joins us to share considerations that yoga professionals should be aware of when someone with dwarfism joins their class.
Christophe was born with a rare form of dwarfism called Cartilage Hair Hypoplasia and is 4'4" tall. He has his own podcast called I'm Kind of a Big Deal; and he has been featured in TV shows such as Twin Peaks, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Oz: The Great and Powerful, Fresh Off The Boat and more.
