We're back with actual manga chapters! This week we covered Young Leaves in the Wind, aka the baby chapters. But even though the flashback is tragic, we laughed the entire time with our guest and personal friend, Celine, who was such a treat to have on. We talked about how hugely homosexual these chapters are, innocent fantasies, and speculate why Kai is so obsessed with kidnapping people. Also, and this should be a given at this point, some Geun-tae thirst. 

I've also been working on fixing audio quality issues, so I hope it's better this week!

Evan and I decided to take a little break over the holidays, so this week and next will be extra episodes that won't cover the manga. 

For this episode, I was visiting my oldest friend (I think Evan and I have mentioned Kerrigan as our third best friend we grew up with) and asked her and her fiancé to be on the podcast. Apparently this was David's first podcast, but he listens to a lot of them so he handled it like a pro. They were honestly such a treat to have. 

Anime isn't really their thing and shojo definitely isn't their thing, but they let me force them to watch the first episode of the anime anyway and we ended up having a blast. Please enjoy us talking about how weird they found Soo-Won, childhood classics, the difficulty of a Japanese-style omelette, and the importance of banter in a relationship. 

(Also if you're wondering why we cracked up at OTP, it's because we had to explain what an OTP was to David like an hour before. (Also if you're a child listening who hasn't heard the term because it fell out of favor, OTP means One True Pairing, or the couple you want to end up together.))

As we say goodbye to Tae-Jun (for now?), we say hello to a new guest! Colleen of Colleen's Manga Recs joins us this week as our first guest to be completely caught up with the series (as of chapter 218). We chat about favorite dragons, what shonen series Yona most resembles, and, bizarrely, Mormons. Thanks, Stephanie Meyer. I swear our tangents get more incomprehensible with guests.

Hey everyone! It's a bonus episode! 

I didn't have much time to edit this week because I went home for the holidays (and stayed on Evan's couch), so I decided to chop off the first bit of an episode we did with Yata, our first returning guest. As you can see/hear, we did not even approach talking about Yona for an entire hour. The rest of the episode will come out in two weeks, but for now please enjoy us talking about anime, terrifying claymation, and getting blindingly drunk. 

Hope all the Americans had a good Thanksgiving and hope everyone else had just a really lovely weekend. 

It's a new arc! Which means...we don't have much to talk about. Yet. This week is super short and sweet as we get our feet wet in Fire Tribe lands. 

Warning: we very briefly talk about the sexual assault undertones in chapter 49 from 25:21-25:57 and Evan mentions it for just a sec in her prediction. We do not get into any sort of detail whatsoever (we basically just mention that there are those undertones), but I wanted to mention it here if you're particularly sensitive to the topic.
