I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
Brief update to share about upcoming shows as we head into fall 2024.
Thank you everyone :)
Today I talk with Connie Wardman, one of my high school peers and a very special woman who I had the pleasure of reconnecting with a few months ago.
Connie's life is an astounding series of adventures, both professional and personal, as she details in our conversation. She offers humor and wisdom in equal measure as she recounts her experiences - and also shares moments of vulnerability that are universal to the human experience.
Enjoy Part 1 of our conversation. Thank you for the privilege of your time!
Today's episode features my sister sharing a very personal experience she had at the age of 11. She wrote it as an essay that was entered into a 2024 Creative Nonfiction Contest, and was one of the finalists.
It's a timeless topic that impacts today's youth. Elements of the narrative are unique to the culture at the time.
I hope you'll listen!
A replay of our April 28th interview with Russ and JoAnne Greata.
Happy Sunday, All!
Today I welcome my sister, Carol, who has a lot to share about retirement, nurturing hobbies, and learning new skills such as voiceover and commercial work. She emphasizes the importance of keeping busy and discovering new interests rather than ramping down.
Carol also shares lessons learned after her professional position was eliminated in 2016, and how she prepared for that moment by "doing her homework" on retirement, two years prior. She found that she was ready for the next phase.
For reference - This New York Times piece is worth a read about how Boomers are "reimagining retirement."
As always, thank you for the privilege of your time!
Educator, writer, and world traveler Kate Baldus joins me to talk about her recent trip to Spain, the villages and cities she and her husband Oscar visited over their two-month sabbatical, the daily journal she kept on their travels, and the notable cultural differences between the Spanish and Americans.
We also touch on the invaluable benefit of learning to speak another language, and how our education system can improve upon how languages are taught.
Thank you for the privilege of your time!
On today's episode, I make a few announcements about the future direction of this show, and what I hope to ultimately achieve.
I share anecdotes from my retail experiences, an embarrassing experience at KDKA, the consulting business I started with my late husband, John, and a few more teasers.
Thank you for the privilege of your time!
Today's episode is dedicated to my late husband, John Allison, who went home on March 12, 2023.
Marine Corps Veteran. Loving Husband. Father. Stepfather. Grandfather. Cherished Friend.
We're joined by John's son, John Allison, Jr., Sally Baldus, and her daughter Helen., and my kids, Nikki and Andy, to celebrate John's life through personal memories.
Happy Memorial Day to all who gave their life for their country.
This week I talk with Lisa Smith, journalist and host of CBS News community affairs program, Intersections.
Lisa shares examples of stories she's worked on, the initiatives she's passionate about, how her journalism background adds an important perspective on the stories she covers, the uniqueness of Pittsburgh, and its burgeoning local talent.
Thanks as always for sharing your time!
